Fun fact was the real reason this show was produced was because Walt did not have all the funds to build the park and ABC was willing to give money under this condition.

Its an interesting relationship. ABC provided funding, while Disney brought viewership to ABC

Thanks for posting this!
Didn't realize today was the anniversary of the first airing.
I am very aware of the relationship Disney had with ABC for the show, from the many Walt Disney biographies I've read. Very much a win-win.
I still watch the "Man and the Moon" and "Man in Space" episodes on youtube.

ABC received ⅓ of Disneyland, Inc. in exchange for Disneyland, The Mickey Mouse Club and Zorro. The other two owners of Disneyland, Inc., each with their own third, were Walt Disney Productions (the Studio) and WED Enterprises (Walt Disney).
