Trip Report 27 Ladies on a Disney ship - Yo, Ho, Ho and a bottle of Rum!

OK, it's been a month, Hubby is gone for a week, and I have no excuse to keep putting this off. I've never done a trip report before, so bear with me, but this trip was so awesome that it deserves to be shared!

First, I have to say thanks to @sweetpee_1993 and the little voice in her head that caused her to post the link to the Girls' Cruise in a random discussion thread. I had been kicking around the idea of a Disney cruise, but didn't really want to go by myself, and when I clicked on that link, it seemed like a personal invitation!
Kelly was a font of information and was so patient with everyone's questions.

Secondly, thanks to @Disneyfalcon for all her hard work in putting this cruise all together. From room assignments, to dinner seating times to transportation, everything was spot on.

And finally, thanks to my better half for understanding and putting up with my Disney obsession. He doesn't really get it, but he's willing to listen to me ramble on about my vacation plans, and he had to listen to these plans for almost 2 years! Of course, I don't get his enjoyment of spending 2 weeks in Montana with no indoor plumbing every year hunting, either!

And now that that's out of the way, here goes! I don't have that many pictures, mainly because we were having too much fun to stop and take pictures, and it's easier to deny something if there is no pictorial evidence that the event actually happened! You know, what happens on the cruise ship, stays on the cruise ship!

I flew in on Saturday the 7th, and had decided to stay at the airport Hyatt the night before the cruise. I kicked around staying at a Disney resort, but I knew I'd have to spend time in the parks, too, and I was going there afterwards so I thought I'd save a couple bucks by staying at the airport. Then on one of our chats, we decided we should all meet for dinner that night as sort of an ice-breaker. I figured, no problem, I'll just take a taxi to the Grand Floridian, meet everyone, then head back after dinner. Time for Lesson #1 of What to Do Different the next time. ("Next Time" was a popular phrase on this cruise - somewhere, someone was supposed to be keeping a list of things to change for the next Girl's cruise!)

Anywho, after paying $75 EACH WAY for the taxi, I will be spending the next Cruise eve night at a Disney resort!

Dinner is Grand Floridian was fun and it was nice to start putting names to faces.

We schlepped our luggage into the debarkation lounge - you'd think we were going away for a month instead of 4 days, but with the bottles of booze and fish extender stuff, I had one suitcase just for that!

And speaking of fish extenders, I had so much fun with that. Got some really cute things and I had a good time making something special for everyone. Here's a couple pictures of the things I made - a little Minnie Keychain and a pirate bandana! And I can see why they charge so much to the Fish Extenders on Etsy! I made up my own, but it's not something I'd want to do again!

Yay!! Another report!! I'm so glad you took pictures of your FE gifts! I was so bad at taking those and they need to be seen! They were awesome! :)

More please.

Wow, your first trip report!! Be prepared--these things are almost as much work as fish extenders! LOL

I'm so grateful for that pirate head scarf, it means I won't ever have to lug that ridiculous pirate hat of mine anymore!

Yay, Sherry! You started your report, too! Bring on the flood! It's so exciting to start reading these things.

Actually, now that you mention it....from the get-go there was frequent emails between Tammy & me prodding each other about ways to get the word about the girls cruise out in the other forum areas. We knew unless people were already cruisers or had already planned one it was unlikely any of our target audience (the WDWMagic ladies) would know. So, finding ways to make the girls cruise relevant when it might not otherwise be was always in our minds. A thread about basket weaving? Hey! Join us on this all-girls runaway cruise and go look at baskets in Nassau! LOL!

Loved your FE gifts, 'specially my little special bonus gift. You didn't have to do that. ;) Believe me, it lives close to my heart. Literally. My bed pillows are all king size except for one that I use under my chest so I can sleep on my tummy. That's the one that fits. Perfect!

Absolutely enjoying this. I love that we were all on the same adventure but each have our own tales to tell. Awesome!

I apologize for all the separate posts, but my internet will kick me off at random times, and I don't want to lose everything if I try to do longer single posts.

We did lunch at Cabana's, then made it down to our rooms around 1:30PM. I loved, loved, loved our room. We were in room 7684 - close to the elevators/stairway and right up to the pool deck. You could hear the engines when the ship docked in the mornings, but, frankly, I was so tired every night and I could drop right back to sleep.

Here's our room and veranda. I splurged on the veranda this trip, thinking that if I do this again, I can save a couple bucks by booking an inside stateroom. Wrong again! So spoiled with the veranda, I can't see myself sailing without one!

And those really cool Minnie Mouse pillowcases? Designed and made by me for me and my most awesome roomie, @Howe! I think they add a touch of class to the room, don't you? LOL

OK, I'm back.

Continuing on with Sunday, after the reception, we headed out to the required safety drill and the Sail Away party. There were Cast Members standing on the pool deck with trays of luscious frozen concoctions, but I knew my hands would be full with my camera and the awesome WDWMagic Cruise banner that @Tiggerish had made for us, so I passed for the moment. However, on my way back down, those same drinks were buy one get one free, so I scarfed up 2 and headed back to the room for clean up for dinner. Courtney was is the shower, so I sat on our veranda and enjoyed mine, and she got hers when she came out. A good tip to know for next time!

As we had the late seating for dinner, most of us met up at the theater for the show Golden Mickeys, which was fantastic. More fancy drinky-drinks were enjoyed, then it was off to the Enchanted Garden for dinner. I didn't take my camera for that meal (I don't know, put it down to a gray-haired moment) but I had the filet and it was delicious. The dining room is beautiful.

After dinner, we were pretty wiped out - it had been a long day. Headed back to the room and emptied our Fish Extender - got some pretty cool stuff. Thanks, everyone!

Monday - Nassau day.

What can I say about Nassau - been there, done that, bought the (Harley-Davidson) T-shirt, probably won't go back. Did not like the straw market at all - don't want people bothering me when I try to shop. I did meet a couple from my church that happened to be vacationing in Nassau for the week at Senor Frogs for lunch. I know, I know, all the way to the Bahamas to visit with my next-door neighbors! But it was a fun visit, and we walked around for awhile.

Next time (see, there it is again...) I will do something else on Nassau day: Atlantis, the casino, I understand there's a zoo, stay on board and join in the shipboard activities, any

thing else besides just going into town.

After I got back, I checked out the shops, then headed down to shower for dinner. Met up with the group for the show, then dinner at the Royal Palace. Remembered the camers. I had the filet of wild boar - was feeling a little adventurous and it was so good! Crème brulee for dessert and a fancy drinky-drink, too! Afterwards we headed up to Evolution for drinks and entertainment. They had an audience participation version of the Newlywed Game that was a real hoot and a half!

Took time out for some group photos. Donald was thrilled to be part of our group of ladies, and we were thrilled to be part of Prince Ali's harem!
Here I am with my best roommate in the world Courtney, and Holly, Jess and Shannon. It was so nice of these young ladies to let this old lady hang out with them!
