All of a sudden this week summer started here in SoCal. The June Gloom cleared out, the temps shot up into the 80's, lower level Annual Passes were blocked out, and the All-American College Band returned to the Disneyland Resort.

The All-American College Band, made up of talented student musicians from colleges and universities from across our nation, has been a summer tradition at Disneyland since 1970. While a similar band was eliminated at WDW years ago due to TDO budget cuts, it lives on and thrives at Disneyland each summer. The music and arrangements change each summer, but the youthful spirit and energy is always the same. They perform several sets per day in each park, in various places and times around Disneyland and DCA, from mid-afternoon through mid-evening.

Here is this year's All-American College Band performing one of their first sets of the summer.

Ah yes, was about to post about this. Saw them last week - they were fantastic!!

They certainly are! Disneyland talent scouts travel every spring from the Pacific to the Atlantic, Great Lakes to Gulf of Mexico, auditioning hundreds and hundreds of band members at colleges and universities. Only two dozen of the best of the best are selected, and it's a very prestigious gig to get. Plus, you get to spend the summer working at Disneyland.

Here's a fun "Attractions Medley" they did yesterday in front of the Castle.

Here's the band performing yesterday. After they've been together for a few weeks, you can tell they really gel and get into the musical groove. And I really like this number and song, apparently called "Bubbles Was A Cheerleader". Not sure where it's from, but it sounds vaguely mid 1960's Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass to me.
