Guess nothing happened with the MGM name change??

Okay, don't know how to "subscribe" to a thread without posting, so I'm posting to keep updated.

If there was a change, I'm sure we would have heard about it. But then again, ya never know! (That's why I'm subscribing to this thread. ;) )

There are many people who just believe this to be a big internet rumor.

It may or may not happen, but there is no real evidence out there less than a decade and a half old that even discusses the possibility. I do believe the original date of the agreement, and it's terms, are "fact", but we have no idea what's happened in the remaining years - for all we know a deal was struck long ago, or perhaps no deal needed to happen in the first place.

At this point, I don't see Disney waiting until this "magical date" to rip everything down all at once. Again, it may be happening as we speak, but it just makes no sense for Disney to wait until the last minute. We would have started seeing updated park maps weeks if not more ago, and I'm sure removing the signs COULD be done in one night but why wait until the last second?

We'll just have to wait and see...but it wouldn't surprise me at all if people were waiting for nothing at all.

From what I understand the change has already begun but it is going to be gradual...but it is going to be called the Disney Studios...if you watch any promotional videos for vacation planning from this year, they refer to it as the Disney Studios...if the name wasn't changing, they definitely would not do this...but other than that, I havent heard anything concrete either

They have called it the Disney Studios in the promo videos forever. There is a legal stipulation that doesn't allow them to use the MGM name.

All promotional material has referred to the park as the Disney Studios for the past decade. It is part of the aggrement.

I was there 3 weeks ago and all the cm's were still saying the Disney-MGM Studios, the buses still said MGM studios so I think this is just a big rumor.
