Hey everyone! Its me, Jedimaster1227, back with another poll for you to enjoy. It has been a while since I last started a new poll, but my ideas have been running dry. Due to the recent success of my WOL NEWS? thread, I have been thinking hard on how to make another successful poll/thread to entertain everyone. May I add that the poll has lasted for about two and a half months, it has been my first successful poll, and my most successful thread. So to keep you fans of WDW happy, I went to work. Tonight, I saw Episode III for the second time. This got me thinking. What is to become of Star Tours now that Episode III has been released. George Lucas even said that Star Tours would be getting some suprises to it. Who knows? Do You? What do you think? I will leave an other option on the poll. If you vote for the Other, please reply with a message on what you think will happen. As with my past polls, questions and comments are always welcome because that is what keeps these threads alive. I check back everyday to see the progress of my threads, so any questions or comments will be replied to within 24 hours. Thanks again! Take to the Polls!

I LOVE STAR WARS but I can't bring myself to go back on that ride.. it just feels so cheap and outdated. Like something from an 80s cheap carnival or something.. just horrible. Also when I bring new people to disney world I always make up an excuse not to take them this ride so I dont ruin their disney expectations.

Anyway... here is my IDEA TO FIX STAR TOURS :

Just copy the spiderman ride from Universal and do it the same exact way but with the Star Wars theme. For those that don't know its sort of like a moving track based simulator using the great 3d glasses and technology. That would just rock. They could fly you thru all the big battles/scenes of the movies.. the highlights you know.

Also.. I think they could use a life size hangar somewhere behind it so when you exit the new star tours it would leave you in this huge hangar. Inside the hangar would be life sized replicas of the Melinium Falcon, an Wing Fighter, and a Tie Fighter where people could climb inside and sit down inside.

Then on your way out of the hangar you exit into a star wars shop where you could buy merchandise before the shop exits you back into the park.

PS : To promote this new ride they could change Spaceship Earch into a huge Deathstar for a year or two :) OH YEAH!!!!!

I think we will see a redoing with a new destination. But I would prefer to see a Spider Man type attraction based on Episodes 3-6. Probably not enough room (or money) for that though. Maybe simulator technology has advanced and a new film with new simulators would be better than expected.

Edit: I love it when two people post similar thoughts at the same time  I think most people would like to see Star Wars get an attraction on the same scale as Spidy.

I'd just have six destinations, a completely redone queue(keeping up more with the travel agency/intergalactic airport theme, you would see some aliens waiting in distant areas of the spaceport. The boarding/safety video would be redone, featuring more recently seen alien species and a Twilek flight attendant giving the safety instructions.
Destinations for this idea would be:
Tatooine(Run in with an angry Krayt Dragon,Tusken Raiders and a Bantha stampede, some Podracing, and the Sarlaac. Mos Eisley is the location of the station)
Endor(classic version remade to feature the second Death Star and the run into the core. The station you'd arrive at would be in Bright Tree Village(Ewok village in the actual film.)
Naboo(swamps ,Otoh Gunga and the planet core. Theed would be your stop)
Mustafar(traveling amongst the lava rivers as two familiar people duel amongst the molten rock flows, even on the Starspeeder itself. Stop at a outpost near a lava mining operation)
Hoth(Wampas, ice caves and other freezing conditions. Stop at the Echo Base.)
Coruscant(Traveling through the city, getting into a speeder chase. Stop at Star Tour's galactic headquarters.)
The unload would still have the same basic look, considering each stop is at a Star Tours station. The shop would be rehauled again to a Coruscant theme and would lead into the Dex's Diner restaurant.

I like the idea of running thru the different places you mentioned. I would still do it similar to the spiderman ride with the track and 3d effects on.

Another great idea to me to incorporate extreme temperature effects into the ride:

So when you fly thru Mustafar's level you would feel deep rush of heat hit you ...

And then as you fly under the at-ats on hoth you feel the cold air fly in..

It would really add so much. I think some fog machines going off would be fun too to simulare the ship being hit/damaged from enemies.

PS : I like your idea of the shop leading you into a restuarant. But instead of that diner.. I would like a replica of the cantina (complete with live music) from A New Hope.

Spiderman at IOA has proved that 3D technology works well and I would like to see that same technology used to update Star Tours into a Star Wars - now that all six films are released there is no reason why multiply themes / destinations cannot be used.
St is a classic but is in desperate need of a re think

and since Lucas is release all 6 films in 3D around 2007....I'm sure plenty of material will be available. I always loved how Star Tours cut into the exact scene from the movie...you can even tell where the splice is....

This is perhaps the BEST thought I have heard for how to do the multiple desitinations. I love the idea of multiple desitinations and if it is done I hope that they put you in charge of the redo (with a little help from Lucas of course).

This is a very complex issue. When I have some time later I'll try to organize my thoughts, but the one thing I know for sure is :

NO DAMN POD-RACING.

For the love of Mickey, if they do anything to tie in what is the worst 20 minutes in Star Wars history, I'll be the first one organizing the picket line. I'd rather them gut Star Tours and put in a Bea Arthur animatronic singing her wookie song from the Holiday special.

And I'm not joking, LOL.

Anything but a motion simulator. Barf. Star Tours remains the only Disney ride that I want to see, but I cannot bring myself to do so, because I know its another motion simulator.

I've long thought a spiderman-like ride would be a good replacement. Apparently I'm not alone in that idea. Perhaps, now that Ep 3 is out, it could be themed around Annikan / Darth Vader as the main char, with a timeline covering eps 3-6. Make a nice dark ride out of it.

Star Tours is a classic, but if they changed it somewhat, I'd be ok.

That being said--I love cheesy 80's-feeling things! Hah! I'd be sad if Back to the Future in Universal was taken away. :( I love the nostalgic feeling I get.

There should be a balance between new and old rides.

No changes to the queue, except the backstory will be changed. Instead of departing for a vaction, you will be a soldier departing for a great battle somewhere in the galaxy. The simulator will not be a transport vehicle, but a heavily armed blastboat.

1)Death Star(a redo of the original)
2)Kashyyk. You will be involved in the battle from Episode III, and Yoda will even hop a ride on your vehicle. When he gets in, a Yoda AA will appear in the cabin.
3)Endor. You'll make it to the forest moon this time, but only to find yourself in the middle of the Battle of the Second Death Star. You'll take out some TIEs, and even a Star Destroyer. You will then assist Lando and Wedge in taking out the Death Star.
4) The Battle of Hoth. You will acompany Rouge Squadron in their defense of Echo Base.
5)Geonosis. You'll help the Jedi in the begining of the Clone Wars.
6)Coruscant. You'll fight the Droid armada above the capital of the Old Republic. You will help Anakin and Obi-wan board General Grevious's ship.

NO PODRACING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :fork:

I second Tahu's motion! Great ideas! :D
But I agree, SirGoofy; no podracing, please! If we just flew over a podrace, that would be ok...maybe fly through it and maybe have some of the podracers bump the Star Tours vehicle or something...but I don't want to have a whole simulation of a podrace.

the only way i would like the simulator to stay is if it went 3D... but even then... simulators are way too old and outdated... now let's talk COASTER!

the possibilities are ENDLESS for a star wars rollercoaster! onboard audio... i can just hear the Victory Parade song, the Main Theme and the Imperial March through parts of the SENSORY ride!!!

could you imagine setting up a scene where you are 'flying' through the trenches of the death star!?!?!?

animatronics, great audio, great scenes, and a new coaster with inversions!!! i'm excited already! :sohappy:

I stand by my theory that if Star Wars continues to do well at the box office we may see a completely new ride concept. However, this will take away funds from WDWFanatic007's Indiana Jones ride!

Maybe, if Disney is not too cheap, they will move the Star Tours new ride to the Indiana Stunt Show area and put something new where Star Tours once was.

For those hoping for some Spiderman clone, keep dreaming. TWDC would never copy their competition's ride system and just add new theming. They barely even acknowledge their existence as it is. However, if they somehow expanded on the concept, maybe a new vehicle system, or different technology, it's a possibility.

Also, let's remember that the new concept needs to appeal to all audiences. There are plenty of people out there who have experienced Star Tours, enjoyed it, yet have only seen one or even none of the SW movies. So, though they need to provide a storyline for the diehard SW fans, they can not make it so personal that non SW fans won't understand it or won't enjoy it.

It seems more likely to me that this will remain some sort of a simulator, but don't give up hope, because the possibilities for that can still be endless.
