concierge changes?

I have read recently (on other boards) that Disney has recently cut drastically the food and beverage service on Concierge levels, basically making them all 'Light' service; no beer or wine and sparse food offerings?

Is this true?? I figured you guys would know the dirt ( I trust the stuff I read here more than in other places). I'm taking my mother in the fall and we are staying concierge and don't want to be disappointed.

Thanks

Where are you staying for concierge? Mostly throughout the day it's just light snacks, from experience at the Yacht and Beach Club and the Polynesian the snacks throughout the day are light and usually include cookies, popcorn, pretzels, fruit, pudding for the kids, PB&J sandwiches...hence the reason why they're called snacks :) At night a more hefty meal is served, depending on where you are the meals are always different. At the Beach Club one night they had Clam Chowder and some other stuff. Also, i'm sure you can call the Concierge desk of the hotel you are staying at and request what they serve so you can get an idea of what there is to eat! Hope this helps!

Oh yeah and as for beer and wine, from what I know at night for the Dessert time, they only serve hard liquor but no wines or beer.

AKL'sconcierge service consists of (at least in January)
Coffee- 6:30 am- 7am
The cause of my new addiction to exotic teas!

Continental Breakfast 7am-10:30am
Bagels, cereal etc. Very good.

Refreshments 11:30 am - 4pm
Snacks, smoothies (awesome!) water, soda.

Wine and Cheese 5pm-7pm
Excellent wines, as wellasappetizersfrom Bomaand Jiko.Wemad many ameal out of the Morroccan meatballs, grilled chicken, salmon and pork on a stick.

Cordials and desserts 8pm-10 pm
Add some milk, improvise on the Vodka and you have Mudslides!!!!
Amazing deserts from Boma and Jiko. Got to try the Zebra Domes.

Honestly, I hope this is a false rumor because theconcierge at AKL, though expensive was awesome.

I would bet Pam from Kingdom Konsultants would have some info on this if it were true.

We are staying at YC. I've stayed at CR concierge before and really enjoyed those offerings. But if they are cutting most of them out, then I don't think it would be worth the price.

I do honestly hope it is a false rumor, and I hope Pam from Kingdom Konsultants, or anyone who knows can lay it to rest.

Thanks!

it also depends on what level consierge you're paying for.
we stayed on the 12th floor at the contemporary and it was light snacks and sodas only
the 14th floor has all of the beers and wines and "heavier" snacks.

AKL has only 1 level.

tmtee, I would be curious as to where you heard they were cutting back. This forum is pretty good with breaking news and I have not seen anything else along these lines. None of the other boards I look at have mentioned this.

No problem, I saw it on DISboards. OP said she had just come back, and this was the case, she spoke to a mgr who told her all Disney CL were going to this.

You are right, that WDWMAGIC usually has the breaking news, and very accurate news, which is why I asked here, with people I know will know the correct answer, and hopefully let me continue planning in peace ( instead of the slight panic attack I had with this rumor).

So thanks for all your help!!

Sometimes during the low season, less is offered. But when I say less, I mean that the food may not be as extravagent. There are always cordials offered in the evening.

OK, I looked at the posts on DISboards and there seems to be no consensus as to whether or not this is happening. Some assert that this started in December, yet I was at AKL in January and there is no rational way I could complain about the spreads ( Wine, beer, tons of desserts great breakfast items; all of it was delicious and plentiful). One poster said her and her husband work concierge at Poly and the listing of offerings contradicts the “lightening” claim.

Pam from Kingdom Konsultants stays concierge a lot and has heard nothing. I have also e-mailed the AKL concierge to see if they can give me any info. I am going into planning mode for our next trip (hopefully including some friends and family) and I am curious to find out if there have been any changes. If I get a response I’ll be sure to post.

Received a response to my e-mail within a couple of hours! The wines and beers are still offered at AKL as are the desserts. The only thing missing is the oatmeal and AKL concierge said this was a decision for all conceirge at WDW. So,I'll be staying AKL Concierge when I return in January.

Thanks Iakona- I will now continue planning my Sept YC concierge trip in peace, knowing all will still be there. If we do stay concierge it is usually 14th fl CR, so I was nervous switching resorts anyway. I'm happy they replied so fast to you. Thanks for your help and have fun planning.

Oh- and WDWkat26- I will probably PM you soon and ask about your experience! Thanks for the offer.

No problem. Had me worried there for a bit becuase we really loved the concierge at AKL and have been saving so we can do it again in January.
I would cover my bases and callthe resort (or email) toget the current info on what the concierge offers at YC.

During the summer at the Polynesian, they usally have

morning:

coffee, lemonade, guava juice, sodas, bagals, some light things

afternoon:

any drink you want pasta, fruit, salad, cheese, BBQ chicken somthing like that
cookies

night:

A lot like lunch with different choices including dessert During lunch and dinner they usally have a kids section with cupcakes, sandwiches, gummy worms and candy

Not sure but i think that after dinner they put out cookies and desert around 10:00

The chef there is really nice and usally makes carvings out of food. We have seen carrot swans, bannana squids, fish out of cucumber

If you want somthing a little better you could always go to Captain Cooks
