Shifting Skies Brainstorming

Chad, hopefully tati will get some work to this one. We will have 15 cars that are spinning around hundreds of scientific mobiles. Each vechicle will have a special effect. Its up to tati to get the designs and the effects for each cup created, with some output from us.

:D Hey, Weirdone!

Thanks! I will love to do that! Hmmm... I have to create 15 spinning cups, representing different kinds of weather. Is that right? Each one will have a special effect to create the feeling of the weather, all right? Well, I will do my best.

Kisses for you, boys!

Hmm, anybody got any ideas for the outside of the pavillion? I know this was breifly discussed before but here's what I'm thinking.

I love the futuristic outside of StormRider at TDS. I would love something like that. Of course, what do you guys think?

I agree goofster. Also, It will be in the shape of a mickey head...(MAKING IT THE WORLD'S BIGGEST HIDDEN MICKEY!) and the outside will be StormRider-ish with a glass dome in the center for the tea cups and the hub of the pavillion.

tati - here are my ideas for five cups.

  1. Sun Cup - Heat Lamps Make Heat Come Out And Warm Other Cups
  2. Cold Cup - Cold Lamps Make Other Riders In Other Cups Cold
  3. Wind Cup - High Pressure Wind Nossels Make Winds As They Twirl By...Really High Wind
  4. Storm Cup - Rain Squirters Spray Water On Other Cups
  5. Fog Cup - Makes The Area Around It Foggy
    [/list=1]

So, What do you think tati and everyone else?

Ok here's my first sketch. Right now it looks a little crazy because I added the dome on and the two outside towers once i remembered the whole hidden mickey thing. Of course all the colors would be darker and more rusty looking, but there's only so much in a box of Crayola colored pencils. Still, I think i got most of the main point across, and who knows, maybe you guys 'll want to go in a totally different direction, this is just my idea.

Here ya go:

Ok, and here's what I think the layout from the top would look like. I tried not to make it too obvious of a hidden mickey, but still it is pretty obvious. The thick black lines show where a line of trees or a hill or some sight barrier should go. Then the arrows show how the building could extend back, which I'm sure it would need to do, being that Strom chasers will take up a large amount of space. This part would just not be shown on the guide map, like the Wonders of Life Pavillion.

While I like Goof's Idea, it's a bit busy for epcot...ALl of epcot's pavillions are very geometric and smooth...With very little 'decorations..' here's my idea for it..There is water around the rocks, and along the pathway and I'll decide on color later

And here's the inside...

The column in the middle is actually attached to the middle of the big glass dome (as seen from outside),I thought it would be nice to make the inside more cheerful and bright. The teacups could be placed around the column, or omitted. I'm still not sold on the teacups, personally. Anyways, in the back, you can HOPEFULLY see the escalators. They go along the back wall..I'm not sure how good this scan was

Yeah, that's cool. You're right, it's a little too much. I think your design could use something though, those walls look pretty bare. Maybe somekind of a beautiful mural of clouds and rain and snow and tornados. Weather stuff

Chad, to be honest, your pavillion looks way too much like Mission: Space. I'm not too sure on it. Add something like a cool mickey sorcerer fountain in front. As seen in a EuroDisney observation toweres for the castle concept art. As for the tea cups. What are you not sold on about them? I think they are a great idea and add a big family attraction. A companion to WeatherIfic! Profeser Sirrus' WeatherIfic! Storm Cups. Anyways. Also, this pavillion lacks much greenery and I proposed the tide pool/pool idea and it got rejected, not cool Chad. Hey, IM sometime...please.

I must agree, I'm not convinced about the storm cups either. If there is one park carnival rides shouldn't go, it's Epcot. But that's just my opinion, I guess if don't right (not sure how that would be) they could work out. It doesn't really matter to me, though, I'm easy, I'll go witht the flow.

they're not 'Tidal Pools' they're lakes..They don't rise and fall over the pavillion like you proposed..Yeah, I agree, It is missing Greenery...As for the murals, I'm not sure..I'd have to see what you're thinking about..You have to remember what everythign IN epcot looks like, Simple, geometric, and not TOO decorative on the outside, but BEAUTIFUL on the inside...The murals...Something like what they did with The Land and The living Seas with the tiles outside would look good, just not something that takes over the entire building..plus, you have to imagine it with color...It was just a rough sketch..It's a work in progress. As for the teacups, see Goofsters reply. But, I definetly think you guys should keep developing it, the voting will decide.

Chad, here is what I propose for the entrance.

I did not do this art. I scanned it out of the Imagineering book.

(C) Disney and Imagineering

So, tell me what you think. Will explain why I chose this later.

Well, goofster, here is why Mickey fits right in. He controls the weather. In fantasia he madeit couldy and stormy with tidal waves, etc. Well, this is a weather pavillion and since Mickey controls the weather, he should be at the entrance.

Gotta agree with goofster here...Mickey doesn't belong there. He doesn't really belong in EPCOT all that much, EPCOT is about new discoveries and Human Potential, not charecters.
