WDW and DCA TOT comparison

Ok I've never been on the DCA version but I saw a great ride video of it (the full thing) and I have to say compared to the WDW version DCA's isn't really much to be excited about. I mean it seemed preaty boring...There was no 5th demension and the ghost thing was ok...really the coolest thing in the ride I thought was the end of the preshow video where they fast forwarded the TZ music ending. Oh and one thing that was interesting was that a few days before I had thought of my own version of TOT and one of the scenes (basicly where they come out of the shaft) was just like one of the parts of my version.

Well from the video, I think that the DCA version is really great. Sure it might not be quite as good as the one we've got in MGM, but I think that the original is the single best theme park attraction in the country (I've never been to the overseas parks). But where I would rank the original 1, I would rank DCA's 1A. I really was impressed with it from the video. Alot of it is the same but there are more differences than I originally thought. Maybe it's just me but I am really pleased with what our friends on the west coast got.

I can't wait to hear reactions of those people that get to experience DCA's without previously seeing WDW's. I think they'll be even more pleased.

Well I don't think there is any doubt about that, but to me the people over at DL shouldn't complain at all. They got a top notch attraction and should enjoy the heck out of it, IMO.

Well, sure, it's a tower... they'll be happy no doubt.

But honestly, what kind of old hotel has a 2-story disco lit boiler room?
And on top of that... you're taking a stairway to an elevator?!?!

Somethin's screwy here...

Plus, the outside of the hotel doesn't look as aged as ours, and the building itself is kinda ulgy...

I think they'll be so happy to be getting this at DCA none of that other stuff will matter.

At least they did make the inside of the attraction look nice. That gift shop really looks nicer than ours (Yes I know it's a gift shop).

Who said anything was supposed to be normal in the boiler room? There is a stairway to nowhere, as well, added quite on purpose. The boiler room is designed to be disorienting and very creepy, both of which it is. The theming of their boiler room is simply incredible and 10x better than that of the Florida version. I do agree with you on the outside, though...I think their building itself is even more unrealistic than ours and definitely ugly. Our Tower looks like it belongs where it is, even if it is ominous. Their's looks out of place. Nothin they can do now, though. They have a top-notch E-Ride, so they should be happy about that and I'll be happy when I'm riding my favorite Tower in 12 days :D

From the looks of the videos, I think our boiler room is creepier then their's. But, in all logic, why on earth would there be a stairway to an elevator?

There are elevator doors on both floors. Every hotel that has elevator doors on multiple floors also has stairways between them ;) And their boiler room is far creepier than ours...ask anyone who has actually ridden. They have countless scenes right out of the Twilight Zone, like the chalk door to the Twilight Zone on the wall (you can hear the girl talking from within the wall...very creepy) and in the midst of static on the radio, the sounds of screams of those on the elevator can be heard. Then we have the stairway to nothing and the very chilling boiler that looks like a face. Their boiler room is downright terrifying. It really sends shivers down the spine:)

Is there a WHOLE video for the ToT in MGM? IF you or know of a site that has one PLEASE post it!!

The ToT in Disney World is WAY better than the one in DCA. The Ca one is to short, the drops are to soon, 5th Diminsion IS NOT THERE, and Not alot of drops.

vikki - you want `Tower of Terror WDW by martin` at #Disney Central. Blatent plug!

The full expanded backstory, Sunset Blvd, Queue area, lobby, Library with full preshow, boiler room, full ride (with several drops) and exit.

Check the link in my sig for more info and screenshots.

where are there some good pics of the "superior" DCA boiler room? i'd like to compare myself

and wasn't the "chalk-door" with the little girl from Poltergeist? at any rate, seeing/hearing that would be really creepy, what does she say?
(edit: whoops, its from the episode "Little Girl Lost" from that twilighty show about that zone)
