I recently recieved my info and such for my planned october wdw trip...The package included maps to the parks..I found the magic Kingdom map of particular interest...in looking it over I saw The Enchanted Tiki Room ....was not listed..Neither was COP or timekeeper..but that made sense as those are now running seasonal...but all the attractions were listed on all the other maps...even WOL at Epcot...is there something going on with ETR that I don't know about?

Thats not cool!! I know it is not the same, but it is not soooo bad. Could be worse! Nevermind, I don't think it could get worse!!! I miss the original! We have a pic of me from 1978 there and it is great! I even have on a feathered hat that you could buy right beside the show. I walked around squacking like a parot all day! That is was one of my grandmothers favorite memorys! Uncle Walt would not be happy  Where is our Disneyworld going and who is taking it!!!(don't answer that! )

yes. I miss the original. And if they really needed to update it, it could have been done so much better..

There are lots of new Tiki fans, but still, attendance isn't all that better.

Keep the original show, and add a segment with Disney characters like these two or Donald Duck and the 3 Caballeros. But perhaps Stitch could be the centerpiece in a HAWAIAN based show, in which the show could actually fit into Adventureland like it always did.

HASN'T HE DONE ENOUGH ALREADY?

Seriously though me and you have said all along that Stitch would've been a better fit in the Tiki Room instead of taking over AE. If nothing else it would've gotten Lilo in an attraction. But what's done is done.

I like it.

I really miss the original, but after seeing the new one a couple of times I think it's at least slightly enjoyable.

It's MUCH better than the original Imagination remake.

Yep it's official I'm the only person in the world that liked Journey Into Your Imagination. Not like the first one (ok not even close), but on it's own terms I thought JIYI was pretty good.

Back on topic I wonder if there are any plans to revamp "Tiki" again? Like Grizz said crowds are no better now than they were at the end of the original's run. I would really like to get over to DL to see the original in person again.

sorry to get off-topic again, but do you mean the first rehab they did to it? I don't remember it much but I know I like the one that's in place now (except for that smell lab  ). The first one was cool too and I even downloaded the song "one little spark" but I have no problems with the new version.

As for the topic at hand sorry can't comment I've never seen the Tiki show, nor CBJ. Sorry :hammer:

In 2002, i finally tried the NEW tiki room with iago and zazu. It was definetly diff. but i liked it still. Honestly i didnt remember the original at all because i was much younger when i first saw it. However this past summer i went to Disneyland and saw THEE original Tiki Room. It was soo awesome. When i was sitting there, i couldnt help but think how awesome it was to be sitting in the Tiki Room where Walt once was. Same layout, same show, same birds..with a few small exceptions. :p

I don't mind the new show, but then, If I want the orignal, I can still just GO to the original.
Disney parks don't begin and end in Florida you know.

No but my budget does.

I wouldn't minde if the redid it, but they have to at least keep the original character of the ride.

What's wrong that it is not always crowded, anyway. I think it is nice to have something that is cool, relaxing, and you actually can get into without having to wait 3 hours in line.

For you, me and everyone else that is okay with the new show, nothing is wrong with it.
For Disney on the other hand........

Incidently, DL's Tiki room is very reguarly packed, but then DL has a different relationship with their guests then WDW (despite Eisner's foolish attempts to change that) Attractions like the Tiki room simply don't go out of style.

Oh, and you should go to DL for Indy alone. See what DInosaur/CTX SHOULD have been.

As a ride it was okay, but knowing what it replaced make it hard to stomach (JIYI that is)

I saw the DL Tikiv ersion June 2002 and let me tell you, I'm glad they changed it at WDW. It's a "tough sit". What can be any more boring than 15 minutes of singing birds while you look up.

At least the new one changes pace, keeps things interesting and has humor to it. I love Iagu, personally. I have ZERO problems with the current show, aside from wishing that the original Tiki room song last maybe 30 seconds longer in the beginning of the show

Assuming that they DID want to change it to get higher ridership (after all, they make no extra money if it is a little more popular), how would you like to see it changed?

I would like to see them start by making the pre-show area, instead of just one show, filled with a bunch of little one liners - a bunch of talking tiki hads, birde having short back and forth conversations, etc. All around a tropical waterfall.

For the ride itself, first the birds cannot be anywhere as big as Yagu/Iagu however you spell it. I would have a variety show, with a bunch of bird imitators. I was thinking along the lines of bad 70's lounge music, with a bird/flower theme. We could have those white birds singing Una Paloma Blanca, a jaybird Elvis impersonator. Maybe some bluebirds singing Song Sung Blue. Capatin and Tenile could be a couple of ducks singing Muskrat Love, or the ducks could be singing "in the Navy" by village people. OK, scratch that one. African birds singing Midnight at the Oasis? (better change the lyrics on that - though nobody can understand them anyway).
