The operator of Tokyo Disneyland in Chiba Prefecture has reprimanded 17 officials for an accident involving the derailment of a vehicle on the theme park's "Space Mountain" roller coaster ride in December, the company said Wednesday.
Oriental Land Co. said it will cut executive compensation for a managing director in charge of engineering services by 10% for three months. The company also reduced salaries for or otherwise reprimanded 16 others, including President Toshio Kagami, who said he will voluntarily give up 10% of his executive compensation for three months.
One of two "rockets" on the popular ride derailed on Dec. 5, with no injuries. An investigation found that the accident took place due to faulty axles.
