I can't figure out which attraction I dislike the most--AE or the Tiki Birds. AE was not funny, was not scary, and wasted my time.

This is what, the third thread in recent days on this topic?

Alien Encounter was a technologically advanced show that focused on the audience's senses to greatly increase the feeling of fear. The show had an excellent plot, dark humor, and a sci-fi setting that was perfect for Tomorrowland. The characters made the show especially entertaining. From the robotic S.I.R. (voiced by Tim Curry) and Chairman Clench (Jeff Jones) to Spinlok (Kevin Pollak) and Dr. Femus (Kathy Najimy), the whole cast helped keep the audience focused on the attraction. The audio commentary during the show was an extra bonus. "Hey alien! Don't eat me, eat this one!"

It's a shame that this experimental yet semi-successful attraction is now in the graveyard that houses the rest of Disney's past attractions.

Down with Stitch!

Stitch will be the great experiment to see how attractions and films blend.

It is sad to see Alien Encounter go. It's one of the "original" attractions created by Walt Disney Imagineering with its own cast of characters. It was VERY creative.

I will be OK if both Skippy and the SIR stay. . . with spirit (which is not always assumed, i.e. Figment ride in July, 2002).

I am interested to see how they incorporate Stitch. If it is is still "as scary," I will wonder why it was done. After all, the word "Stitch" only will invite more kids. If they're changing the intensity, then that's more understandable as far as adding Stitch and the whole reason why its being changed.

I still think Stitch should have been put in the Tiki Room. . . but that's just me.

*Sigh*

As usual, half of you are trashing the attraction before you even know what will happen in the thing. It's sad, really it is. The whole fact that we're a complete year away from the attraction, and the boards have just gone up around the attraction, and even before the attraction closed, you all were still trashing it just because they're taking your beloved, and yet, progressively pitiful attraction as they years grew onto it.

Sure, I'll admit, concept=Great one. It was a break away from the everyday Disney Attraction, somethin to give the teens to do while their parents took the ankle bitters on Buzz.

I'd be stupid to say you can only do that attraction so many time. But then someone would say something about that like, that would be the case with Disney entirely, you can only do Disney so many times (or something like that, its not worded right, no coffee:cry: )

I'm glad for the change. To me, Alien Encounter was become, uh, no worth the time and the encounter. I can't say one good thing or bad thing about Stitch yet, why? What do we have to go on? RUMORS AND A CONCEPT TEASER PICTURE? Cummon, thats a weak defense on why Stitch is a stupid idea.

Basically what I'm boiling down to is stop trashing an attraction that hasnt even had one damn thing started on it yet for the change ecept the boards going up. When more info is released THAT IS CONFIRMED, by all means praise/trash it. But cummon, why do you trash and attraction thats just getting started.

Ill bet that half of you who are trashing AE, will end up liking Stitch the same as AE, or even better. But that's just me taking a wild guess.

Can't wait to see it go! We saw it when it first opened and hated it!!! The only good thing was the preshow. We never went back in until last December when we figured we would give it another try. We still hated it!! Always though so much more could have been done. I can't wait to see what the imagineers can do with Stitch. Since this park is mostly for the young ones, (don't get me wrong us adults love it to) I think they are doing the right thing by adding Stitch to it. Just my opinion!

Disney has gotten to think that the kid's way=family way! What ever happened to teens and young adults? My only hope that the next gate will start off like IOA! (by the way, getting a bit off the subject, I believe we will hear something about this in 2008 after project Gemini ends! it was said that the next park's budget went to that.)

I didn't really like AE (no specific reason) but bringing more characters to tommorrowland?? What will be the difference between fantasyland??? :brick: :brick:   :brick:

So Disneyfan 2000-- you think that Mission:Space, Expedition Everest, the Stunt Show Spectacular, and Soarin' Over California have absolutely no appeal to teens/young adults?????

(Cue the other Disney naysayers who say that all the park ever builds is thrill rides)

Jay Rasulo was quoted in an article saying the Magic Kingdom is INTENTIONALLY putting more focus on characters--- because that's what guests are TELLING THEM they want!

Disney (which many on these boards think is a money-grubbing, penny-pinching company) is not going to spend a single dime--- much less several million-- upgrading Alien Encounter unless they knew it would generate more public interest (and ticket sales).

I disagree with those that think the Stitch makeover is being done to sell more merchandise. Sure, it'll be a nice side effect. But keep in mind, the different branches of Disney work within their own separate budgets. "Theme Park Attractions" is not going to spend millions of dollars of THEIR budget just to help "Park Merchandise" make more money. The divisions are much more stingy than that!

As much as I loved AE, it was time for a change. Hopefully Stitch will last much longer than AE. I wonder why they couldn't just have built Stitch in Timekeeper's theater. It would have made people happier.

Well said...

However since I've already built the bridge and gotten over it...I'm kinda, sorta looking foward to see if they do a good job with the Stitch replacement.

Yet my vote is with...WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!?!?

Why? Why tear out a some-what good attraction? Why tear TK for Stitch?

Stitch's Escape will utilize the harnesses from AE, so why would tear out another attraction where they would have to add in the seats and all when they have, oh look, AE.

Now Im not saying that they're doing it just for that, thats obviously not the case. But it would seem pointless for them to tear out TK the build pratically the same rooms that AE had, when they have rooms all ready to go?

Anyways, with the rumor and all about SIR staying but being turned into a officer. Who do you think should voice him? (NO, DO NOT SAY TIM CURRY. I love the guy, but someone else!). I think Ving Rhames (Cobra Bubbles) or maybe James Woods (Hades).

I know we'll be hearing Chris Sanders (Stitch), Kevin Michael Richardson (Gantu), Zoe Caldwell (Grand Council Woman) and maybe, just maybe David Ogden Stiers (Jumba).

Im guessing we'll see Jumba talking about Stitch in his cell for the first pre-show. In the second (SIR and Skippy, RIP) room, Stitch would break out, hence we'd see, Stitch, and the council woman would be telling everyone to go after him (enter Gantu, again)

In the main show, yadda yadda, Stitch transports to the room, Gantu comes on the screens and so on, and stitch starts the havock.

What will shock me the most is how they manage to get him in the transporter again, after all, he is a smart little devil, sooo, it'll be interesting to see how this happens.

I forgot to add this in, the whole attraction will be set around Stitch getting out of containment and running around the ship before he makes a break for the getaway ship and heads to earth.....so Im guessing they'll be setting the area up to look like the ship more than likely on the outside, and the containment areas on the inside.

Ah...but why would we have harnesses to try to catch Stitch?

Anyway, as far as Timekeeper, why the heck WOULD Stitch go in there?!?! If it's for the "Alien" thing, Alien Encounter is on the other side. TK presents a whole new level . . . and I don't want to ever see another Disney character from a film entering Tomorrowland, dang it!

How does any one know how good this is going to be? I'm not voting until it's opened with Stitch.

While I had no use for AE and I think it will be an improvement. It could be a total bomb.

I can't agree with that more.

On Lilo and Stitch the Series, currently airing on Disney Channel. The episode title is Mr. STENCHY. (CLINCH --> STENCH???)

Gantu just captured one of the experiments. In his spaceship, there is something that appears similar to the transportation tube.

Gantu decided that because it was cute, he'd spare either killing or sending it back for another day.

I'm just wondering if something like this could be a plot line for the show.

Um, no. The show has nothing to do with the attraction. Other than the fact that both items star Stitch.

The show has been good with the episodes Ive watched though, shaping up to be a good series as long as they stay true to the movie, which they've been doing for the most part.

I was kinda hoping Stitch would destroy part of Honolulu though, just to see what we never got to in the movie (aside from the pictures).

Plus, I know your just mindless thinking Turkey on the whole Clench-Stench part. Your just way too into the whole figuring out what might be a connection between AE and SE.

And if you want to hit a technical level, pratically every transportation tube in any movie anywhere resembles the AE tube in some sort of way.

Again, the attraction will deal with, at the time, Experiment 626 escaping from the ship in the first 20 mins of the movie.
