2004 - Stitch Encounter - Rumor - (9/5/03) It sounds as if the Stitch makeover of Alien Encounter is closer than ever, and there is a good chance it could be announced at the October press blitz. Our latest batch of rumored info on the project claims that the transformation may take 10 months (previously we had heard 10 weeks, but perhaps one of these is a typo). The rumored story is that the current Convention Center will now be themed as an Alien Detainment Facility, with SIR taking on the roll of a Robot Policeman who has Stitch currently under lock and key inside the transportation tube where Skippy currently resides. The main show will still offer the same basic experience of an Alien escaping from the glass tube and havoc throughout the entire theater. However, we are not sure if it will be Stitch in the tube or another one of his fellow Experiments gone wild. Disney will also retheme this to be more appropriate to kids and will lower the scare factor as well as the height limit.

Ok, now IMO, this is wrong. AE wasn't designed as a "kid friendly" attraction. Yes, kids can ride it but there are plenty of warnings on the guidemap and outside, so all who scare easily can opt to skip it.
Also, SIR as a cop? Stitch in the tube? Please, Disney, give us a break. I for one would not be scared by Stitch (or one of the other 625 experiments) running around in the dark...what are they going to do, slobber all over guests and eat their snacks?
AE is one of the best shows in ages, even after dozens of visits I still make it a point to go see it. C'mon Eisner and crew...you saw what happened when you took out Figment, WoM, Horizons....need I go on? No wonder there are so many problems with crowds....
