I just finished watching WESH, and they gave out some info.

The new AK attractions name is Expedition Everest, and it they showed some models of it. From what I gathered, it looked like a Mountain (DUH!) with a track running through it and in it. They described it as a ride through Mount Everest, with an encounter with the Abominable Snowman

I just caught that as well. Not much that we didn't already know. The biggest thing they said is that it will be announced on Tuesday, so be on the lookout for news!

More Everest info from my WDW inside source:

1. The parking lot in front of the WDI trailer was packed with WDI fleet vehicles , and construction company vehicles.

2. There was a new trailer being trucked in.. possibly a break area for the construction crew.

3. Nationsrent vehicles...Nationsrent is a construction rental company.

4. And finally...there was a 1-1.5 acre site between Rafiki's Planet Watch and Kali River Rapids roped off with a 15 foot tall dirt hill.

I heard it was going in near the #11 on the map on the opther side of Kali Rapids. Wit han addition of a new pedestrian bridge connecting Asia to Dinoland over by Tarzan. Thought it was going in/on the edge of the water.

it shouldn't... I've been backstage recently (Wednesday), and I can confirm what Zac's source has said... there is a HUGE area sectioned off between Rafiki's Planet Watch and Kali River Rapids, with constant construction traffic in that area

I am tiny bit confused here. We already knew about this ride... we already knew the name of this ride, and we already knew it was going to be announced on Tuesday. So what exactly are we all surprised about? Also, I thought it was confirmed that it was going to be built over near Tarzan Rocks with people confirming construction over there. :veryconfu Lastly, what is WESH?

The backstage area in question can also be considered close to Tarzan Rocks... it's a HUGE chunk of land. From my vantage point though, the land appears closer to Rafiki's Planet Watch and Kali River Rapids.

also.. WESH is the local Orlando NBC affiliate

We did know pretty much everything the news blurb said already. Even the model pictures they showed have been floating around. I'm pretty sure that we did not know when the ride was going to be officially announced. We had heard about the media event to be held on Monday and Tuesday but really couldn't say for sure whether or not Everest would be covered there.

As far as I know, the only discussion of the Tarzan Rocks area was that one end of a new bridge may be located there to help traffic flow from Dino Land to Asia.

Looking at the above pictures makes me wonder if a bridge would be the smartest thing to build. It looks like if they continued the path to go past Tarzan Rocks and around the water, you would end up in Asia.

It wouldn't be the shortest walk but WDI could certainly make it more interesting than just trees and plants. IMO, paths are generally more interesting to walk down than a bridge anyway (even a "themed" bridge).

A path continuing around would also be a big help to traffic flow, in the same way as the bridge would. Instead of having to go back the way you came you could keep going in the same direction as you had started.

Plus, if there were ever to be any future expansion in that area (and it looks like there could be) there would need to be some sort of path there anyway.

That would be quite a walk. Unless they had plans of putting quite a few attractions in there, it woudn't really make much sense to walk around that body of water. The bridge seems to make much more sense, at this time anyway.

Ah, have you been to Epcot? :) It would be shorter than the current walk from Tarzan to Kali. There's nothing to say there wouldn't be interesting things to look at along the way as there are on other paths in AK.

Looking at DonickCo's picture it doesn't look THAT far, Tarzan Rocks appears to be almost at the end of the water.
