Illuminations Cruise Smoke Question

I just booked an Illuminations Cruise for our trip in January. The CM I spoke to made sure to let me know that there was quite a bit of smoke due to being so close to the fireworks. Can I hear comments on how smoky it was and whether it effected your enjoyment from those who have gone?
thanks in advance!:)

Never done the cruise, but the smoke affects more than just the people on the cruise..........I more than often observe all the smoke usually ends up lofting over France and the UK and exiting towards the International Gateway.........but in your situation, I'm not sure where the cruise is, but I think it may be right in front of Morocco??? In that case, you might get some smoke......

I read a bunch of comments from people that have done it on a different website. There were a couple of people who actually wrote nasty letters complaining that they couldn't see anything because of the smoke. Then there were people who wrote letters saying that they've never had so much fun. I guess it depends which way the wind is blowing on that particular night.

It really depends on which way the wind is blowing, and how fast... however, suffice to say, Illuminations has a lot of Low Level pyrotechnics... and as such, the smoke will be low too... Just as long as you know this, and are expecting it... you'll be fine. Im sure the Cruise driver will know in advance which way the wind is blowing, and find an optimum spot for viewing.

The boats are generally under the bridge, thus the smoke may sit there with you. BUT, like mention by many it all depends on the weather and for that sake it could effect anyone watching the show. So I would not worry and have a great time..It's a great way to watch the show

Thanks to everyone for their comments. It sounds like it will be an awesome experience. Now if I can just keep my mouth shut for 3 months so I can surprise my family with it.
I am thinking we will try to eat dinner before hand at either Flying Fish Cafe or Spoodles. I think I'll just give them a heads up when we get to the marina that there will be some smoke and they will be fine. thanks again.

We usually hit Spoodles in the morning for breakfast when we stayed at the boardwalk.

Let us know what YOU think of the cruise, how the smoke affected your experience (I hope it doesn't) and where the boat moored for the experience

No, it's not thsame boat that takes you across. You ride out either from the Marina at the Yacht&Beach Club or the Boardwalk and you call 407 WDW-PLAY to reserve it. I will be happy to give a full report when I return. here's the link to Deb Wills page that gives all the details.
