Hi,

I just saw a commercial for 100 Years of Magic and it said the celebration continues until February 28th. I thought the celebration ended December 31st??????

Thanks!

I guess those could be a couple reasons.
Maybe they need extra time to get things ready to change over. But then again, I imagine most of the things that are special for the celebration (the big hat, some parades, the Walt Disney "attraction") will be around for a while.
I'm wondering what they'll do next. Maybe some time off until the big 50th for DisneyLand.

Many people have asked around, and "One Man's Dream" is not staying. I wish it was, since there's nothing in WDW about Walt, and many people haven't had the chance to visit during the party.

One Man's Dream - I just couldn't think of the name.

hmm, that makes me wonder. I had heard from a few places that it was going to stay for a while. I sure hope it does. I love Disney history, especially about the parks.

I imagine that letting it run until the end of February may help boost attendance in January and February... It couldn't hurt the bottom line ;) Maybe that will inspire them to leave "One Man's Dream" for a while too...... I'm with you Jedi Osborn... I'd love to see it.

MickeyBabe, have you seen it at all? I was able to walk through it in January, but with my little Princess, it was at a pace much faster than i would have liked. Maybe when we visit in December, I'll wait until her afternoon nap, that way I'll have more time.

ARE YOU SURE? They've announce the "Disney's office" isn't returning to DL.

It's a wonderful exhibit, It needs a permenant home.

Well, that's what some people who've been to the Studios said, according to CM answers.

It will be there after the 100 year celebration for an open ended amount of time They said so in the most recent Mickey Monitor. Due to popular guest demand or some such thing. (Sorry Steve, I probably could have given this to you for the site but most of the stuff I get from that isn't exactly new news unless it pertains specifically to AP holders. (Sorry Steve, I probably could have given this to you for the site but most of the stuff I get from that isn't exactly new news unless it pertains specifically to AP holder.) If I think of it and can find it, I'll post the whole little article.

As for extending the celebration, I'm almost positive it has to do with the economy and 9/11. They started late mostly because it would have otherwise been like the party that nobody showed up to and it's been slow. They and their advertising partners were very cautious with promotions and really didn't start pushing it till spring of this year. Numbers are still down but they are slowly inching back up. The further they can extend the celebration, the more they will get out of it since things are starting to improve and the cost for continuing the whole thing for another two or three months probably isn't high since there isn't much we got with the 100 year thing that isn't more than likely staying anyway... The only reason for them not to would be if we were to dip back into a depression before the economy gets totally back on track which has happened before.

Well, they will probably plan on replacing the attraction with something, and I am just guessing they will keep teh Walt Disney Theater, as I think it has been used for previous attractions, anyway. Wasn't that where they showed guests previews of upcoming Disney movies? Mabey they will do that, and keep some of the memorabilia around for show in the "museum" area of the attraction.

I'll try to find the newsletter and post the whole thing when I get home but I'll tell you that I got the strong impression that the whole thing was staying from reading it a week or two ago. I don't remember what it said word for word at the moment but I'm pretty sure the whole thing will be there on an open ended stay... The plan is probably to keep it around till they have something else to stick in there... It's not that hot of a piece of real estate in MGM and the only way to get access to the theater without going through the front building would be to have people enter and exit through the current exit which would kind of be a mess where it is... Oh, and for those of you who don't know, the Mickey Monitor is an official source from Disney - it's not a rumor newsletter.

not really...

without much to lure the guests back, other than the new parades, this celebration is all hype. Attendance is comparable to years with no celebration, and nothing really new

Well I just have to say that I really enjoyed the celebration. When I first herd about it, I said it was just another marketing ploy to make money. But when I got down there and actually experienced it I really felt that it was there to really celebrate Walt's 100th. I really enjoyed the new parades, One Man's Dream, all of the Walt quotes before the parades, and the new hat! I think that I liked this celebration more than the Millennium Celebration.

Mickey Monitor selection

Here ya go, Mr Promey, straight from the Mickey Monitor AP newsletter:

"In response to its overwhelming popularity, Walt Disney: One Man's Dream will remain open beyond the current 100 Years of Magic celebration. As a Passholder, that will give you ample opportunity to 'journey back with Walt' whenever you're inspired!"

I for one am really glad, the exhibit is truly terrific.
