Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue

I made reservations for this for my family today - but I'm wondering if it'll be worth it. It's sounds cool and all, BUT it's over $175 for the 5 of us.

I know, $35 per person isn't that bad for dinner and a show BUT considering all the other money we're shelling out for this vacation, I'm questioning on whether or not we should go ahead and do it.

We're also doing Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party too - anyone been to this? (I've already paid in full for this one - please don't tell me it's not worth it!) :(

Although I've never gone to this dinner show, I've heard rave reviews of it! I've always heard that it's worth the money so if you guys go with an open mind and an empty stomach you should be fine.

Bon apetite!:)

It is only $35 Dollars? Isn't the price 48 per person now? Are you using some kind of Discount?

Anyway, I think that the 135 dollars can be better spent on something else. If you are looking for a fun atmosphere and BBQ food go to Whispering Canyon Cafe in the Wilderness Lodge. The food is nearly the same and the atmosphere in wonderful (very funny). It will also save you a lot of money. 21.99 for adults and 9.99 for children 11 and under.

You're right - it's 47.80 for adults, 24.81 for kids - and we got the Disney Club Discount. The $35 was just a quickie breakdown. :)

But thanks for the Whispering Canyon idea ... is it just a restaurant or is there some sort of *gimick* to go with it?

You should definitely go. You won't regret it. It is in my opinion the best dinner show disney has to offer. I thought the price was a little high when I first went as well, but after the show and the food I thought it was well worth it. They have the best fried chicken I have ever tasted.

Are characters there? Do the servers act like your family ala 50s Prime Time or something potentially similar? Or is it a just your typical sit-down-and-eat restaurant?

OK, I understand what you mean.

The servers all have interesting names to fit the theme, and the atmosphere is a very funny western type. There are horse races (kids and some adults ride around on sticks) and sometimes the servers will wrestle against a giant fish (and the fish always seems to win). The servers will also make jokes while you eat (HINT: Ask for Pepsi instead of coke). Also, the waiters or waitresses will try to convince you not to go to Universal during your trip. All in all this restaurant is a great deal for the money, and I think that it is a better choice than the Hoop-Dee-Doo.

Also, if you are looking for something like Whispering Canyon, but want a different theme try Ohana. This restaurant is more laid back, but still has activities for kids. The food is a Polynesian/Asian type. The prices are the same as Whispering Canyon. Realize though that if you are looking for funny Ohana is not the place to go. Ohana is more or less a toned down Luau, just like Whispering Canyon is the toned down Hoop-Dee-Doo.

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is very cool. The Christmas Parade goes by twice and it's one of the best parades I've seen at the MK. They serve free hot chocolate and cookies at different places in the park and you can take family portraits at different stations in the park as well. (They send you a free photo...4x6, I think?...and an order form for more if you want. I went with my parents and my grandmother last year and they mailed separate copies to all three of our addresses.) They have Christmas shows all around the park and greetings with characters in their winter clothes. All the main rides are going (Splash, Space, etc) and the Country Bear Jamboree will have its Christmas show going.

My favorite part of the Christmas party was the fireworks, though. The Christmas Party fireworks are extra-special. Be sure to stand where you can see the whole front of the castle (but not too close) and be sure to look behind you and to the sides after the finale starts.

If you ever get a chance, Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is also very cool. ;)

Hope you have fun!

My Fiance and I booked the Hoop-De-Doo on our last trip. When I got there I didn't want to go. They couldn't sell our tickets and my Fiance convinced me just to go. Honestly I think I had the best time at a Dinner show ever. It was slightly hokey but it was very amusing. The food was good and hot, I have been to shows where the food was cold. The kids around us just seemed to love it.

The hoop-dee-doo is a great dinner show. I've been there three times, the food is great if you like barbeque food and the show is very entertaining. I think I went to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party when I was little, but I honestly can't remember if I liked it.

We loved the Hoop-De-Doo. With teenagers, anything that's all you can eat is a bargain. The "bucket o'salad" was a big hit and the fried chicken was great. Nobody mentioned the dessert. Strawberry shortcake (one of my personal favorites) was wonderful. We try and eat somewhere different each trip. This was our "new place" 3 years ago and we are ready to do it again, maybe this Christmas. The guidebooks all said you can book up to 2 years in advance for it. We called from the hotel the day before and got in. Always check when you get WDW if you can't get a PS ahead of time. We've gotten some great tables calling at the last minute. We always call for PS early but save a meal or two for spur of the moment decision. Sometmes it works, sometimes it doesn't but it's always worth a try.

I have done the Hoop Dee Doo on all but two of my trips down. and I am going to do it again when I go down in August. It is the best Dinner show Disney has. Much better than the Luau (I have only done that once, and once was enough).

:( . I have been to the Hoop de Doo over 10 times. It was always fun, food great and show always top notch.
At the prices listed above, I don't think I'll be going this next time.

The Hoop De Doo is great!!! we have done it numerous times! The food is excellent. I love the bread and butter, the ribs are amazing and the strawberry shortcake!!! :slurp: :slurp: :slurp: :slurp:

The show is so fun! My kids have always loved it. Go, you will not be sorry! And, the price really isn't bad at all/ Think about how much you would spend at a sit down restaurant and the price is pretty comparable, plus you get a hysterical, fun show as well! The whispering Canyon is fun too, but the price quoted above does not include beer, and the Hoop De Doo is all-you-can-drink beer and wine!!!!!!!!
