Water park guests can swim with Goofy or Pluto
Date: 06/10/2002

Walt Disney World water parks are celebrating the "dog days of summer" with surprise appearances by two famous Disney canines.

Goofy, decked out in patriotic swimwear, makes surprise appearances at Blizzard Beach, while Pluto makes similar appearances at Typhoon Lagoon. The characters interact with guests at various attractions, posing for photographs and even joining guests in the water.

That is so cool! This is a great way to actually bring the characters out to *interact* with guests (like in the commercials) instead of the standard meet and greets. But swimming? Awesome! Whoever came up with this should be promoted, now. This makes me want to make a weekend trip out to the water parks pronto!

Some kind of swimwear type of suit I guess. Maybe it is waterproof.

That is really cool! I'd love to swim with any of the characters. Great way for them to interact with the guests too.

I'm impressed...I seehe's equipped with a life-vest. I can see how kids could try to keep him underwater if theysaw him like that.

this is usually done in the summer, with goofy only at River Country. Now that River Country is gone, he hangs out at Blizzard Beach, and Pluto hangs out at Typhoon Lagoon.

The waterpark gators (Ice Gator at Blizzard Beach, and Lagoona Gator at Typhoon) are also back for the summer.

I have been to WDW over 35 times and I've never gone to any of the water parks. I guess because we always went around Dec/Jan and as some of you know, it can get cold. Do they ever do this in Oct/Nov?

only for special events. This will probably be done and over by mid-September

Pluto, Goofy and Max use to make regular swimming appearances at the Grand Floridian pool...don't know if they still do....but the kids went wild when they jumped in the pool with them....and so did some of the adults...
...it made for some great pictures and memories.
