The WDI Blue Sky Cellar preview center will once again be updated with a new exhibit titled The Road to Cars Land. This will be the last Blue Sky Cellar update before the DCA expansion is completed. The blog confirmed that, once the expansion is complete, the cellar "will continue to be a preview center for new experiences planned for the Disneyland Resort."

“The Road to Cars Land” will be a sneak preview of the plans for Cars Land, featuring a model of the land, maquettes of some of the new ride vehicles, and sketches and early concept art.

And of course, brand-new Cars Land attractions posters will be included in this latest update. Other items to be featured will include the shovel used during the ground-breaking ceremony in July 2009 with the signatures of John Lasseter, Director of “Cars” and Principal Creative Advisor, Walt Disney Imagineering, and other project team members. A new video at Walt Disney Imagineering Blue Sky Cellar will feature John, the Cars Land design team, project architects and landscapers providing insights into the innovations behind the new land opening this summer at Disney California Adventure park.

Ooh! I wonder what the next "new experiences planned for the Disneyland Resort" are??? :p

Great news that the Cellar is sticking around and will morph into a Preview Center for the whole Resort. And three more new Attractions Posters created for the upcoming Cars Land rides! Fun!

And what exactly are they going to do now that WDI has created and commissioned a few dozen new Attractions Posters for DCA? There aren't entry tunnels to place them in at the DCA entrance, but wouldn't it be cool if they put them up on some perimeter fencing or something near the DCA turnstiles in the Esplanade?

I'm thinking of something like Disneyland used to do in the 1950's and 60's by placing up various Attraction Posters on the fencing in front of the train station....

We all knew the current The Road To Cars Land exhibit was the last version of the Blue Sky Cellar. But Al Lutz has recently had some news on changes coming to this summer beginning June 15th.

With the grand re-opening on June 15th, a favorite DCA staple for the last four years will suddenly become obsolete. The Blue Sky Cellar preview center will continue to operate this summer, and most of the current Cars Land displays will remain. However the Cars Land movie playing in the screening room will be swapped out and replaced with an idea John Lasseter came up with recently; a constant loop of the popular Mater’s Tall Tales shorts from Pixar. The result will be John’s answer to the Main Street Cinema in Disneyland, where people can wander in to the darkened air conditioning for a bit and enjoy a cartoon or two on a hot summer day.

Later this year the Cars Land exhibit will be removed entirely and replaced with displays on the new Fantasy Faire meet n’ greet pavilion and the plans for an upgraded Fantasyland Theater hosting a full-scale stage show starring Disney’s Fab Five characters in 2013.

Interesting! And a great idea that John Lasseter had to transform it!
