ToT Fight!!!

...and baby strollers nearby. Niiiice combo with the pepper spray. You can't really tell what the deal was. Just the guy fighting, getting sprayed, still resisting, and getting dog-piled.

This is a good example of Disney not being well prepared for these situations. That "Security" is equipped with pepper spray and no handcuffs. If he could have handcuffed that drunk subject it would have gone a lot smoother. Why did it take assistance so long to respond?

Pepper Spray will not affect everyone especially those who are intoxicated or in a mentally ill mindset. I'm a Police Officer and deal with these types of people frequently - there's no one too to stop someone. The moment that security guard was on the ground there should have been some extra help showing up. He also wasn't in the best shape and didn't know what to do beyond keep spraying (poor training).

I know they don't want CMs getting involved and keeping the "show" going, but seriously, you have an employee getting beat on lying on his back and they all turn away? This is a sad and scary situation that their staff is put into. For as many employees/managers they have - it sure takes them a while to get anyone to show up who will actually take care of this guy.

Okay we all agree that the guy, for whatever reason was an *** but was anyone else annoyed by the idiots filming it? Personally, I just wanted to smack the girl yelling at the guy. If he isn't going to lay down for pepper spray then I doubt her incessant whining about it was going to do any better. And what about the two idiots trying to be funny? "He must have drank some vodka! Hahahahah." Yeah, they were too cool for me. :brick:
And has anyone found out what the moron's problem was? Was he drunk or did he get attacked and that part just not shown on video?

Yeah the girl screaming was definitely getting on my nerves. Did she really think the idiot guy was gonna lay down and listen to her screechy voice? :brick: Definitely it shows that Disney needs better training in these situations.

The most annoying thing was the woman yelling in the background and the guys recording the video laughing about the situation.

CM's can be severely disciplined for getting involved in these kind of situations often resulting in their termination. It's just not worth it to even try.

To the people annoyed at the woman screaming. Perhaps that guy was not aware that children were around. I'm sure had he known none of this would have occured. Seriously though, she was beyond annoying.

I was very shocked that with all those CMs standing around that no one stepped up to help the older gentlemn with the pepper spray. Also saddened that no one in the crowd stepped in either. Goes to show ya that you really are on your own when a situation goes down. People really freeze like a deer in the headlights. I'd like to think I would have stepped in sooner than the crowd did after the guy was thoroughly sprayed.

Also shocked that security was nowhere for 4 minutes. Jimmy Thick would have been there in 3.

Had everyone dogpiled the guy in the first 20 seconds this situation would have been far less upsetting than trying to manage the crowd and keep the show going for 4 minutes. Employees everywhere are told to never lay a finger on someone. Even shoplifters can't be physically detained. And I'm not saying they need to be throwing punches but there comes a point where manhandling someone is absolutely necessary.

I believe the man with the pepper spray was security but was waiting for backup.

Again, it's not worth loosing your job over.

Does Disneyland have no security team?

The woman I could deal with. The idiots filming the thing were probably just as drunk as the guy getting pepper sprayed.

In that situation though they need to. That security guard couldn’t handle the situation and there was no backup showing up. It is worse when cast wouldn’t help so park guests had to pin the guy down.

Exactly. And there's no telling what a park guest would do. Could end up in an even worse situation than if the CM just CUFFED THE GUY.

No. Disney management doesn't see it as the CM "helping" the situation but rather "getting involved." They would've been punished and it isn't worth loosing your job over.

Don't know why backup didn't arrive sooner. In WDW security is increasing more and more, even within the last 6 months. Orange Co. is only a call away and they are always lingering around the parks anyway.

The older gentleman with the spray was security and when he was taken to the ground then it was the a few guys from the crowds that finally detained him.

Security handled it fine and the CM's did what they were supposed to do. They do not want this situation to escalate and thus treat it as subdued as possible until the local police come in to take control. Disney security in not trained nor equipt to handle serious problem guests that try to fight back. I am just shocked that another 1/2 dozen security did not come running into the picture to help out.

I just think they shouldn't lose their job for helping another employee when a situation warrants it. Security was not trained/equiped very well. Seriously where were the zip-ties?!
