Polynesian Smell

My husbnd and son loved the smell when you walked into the Polynesian. I hadn't read anything on the boards about the smell changing so we were surprised when we walked into the Polynesian and the hotel smelled like flowers. Has anyone else noticed that the smell changed? I had to hurry and text my son - no more Poly smell now flowers. It is a nice smell.

I heard that all the deluxe resorts are getting scent systems installed in their lobbies by a company called ScentAir. The scent is "Green Clover and Aloe." The first two were the Yacht and Beach Club. I have to admit, even though I am not a fan oh the Polynesian, the smell does remind me of the amazing food I will be eating at Ohana and the fact that I am in Disney!!! However, the Grand Floridian only uses fresh flowers to scent the lobby, and a scent from the same company called "Tropical Spice" to scent the buildings. I know because the machine is underneath the tables on either side of the walk-in foyer.

I was wondering about the smell in the GF lobby. I was just there a few weeks ago and thought it smelled a lot different. I haven't been to the Poly in a few months, but I sure hope that lobby smell isn't gone.

If anyone sees a smell producing machine at Poly, pull the plug please.:drevil:

Do I have to make a shirt the says "Save the Poly Smell" ?

I'll buy one!!:ROFLOL:

I had a job interview this past July in Orlando, and I made sure that I made a reservation at Kona so I could enjoy the Poly smell and get a dole whip. Delicious stuff at that resort.

Was the smell your referring to a musty scent from the waterfall. If so then count me in for those who really liked that smell. It definitely was unique.

I have always felt that way about the beach club smell. I wish i could get some beach club air freshener for my house! Smells slightly like the "rainkissed leaves" from bath and body works...

Just an FYI, the Beach Club smell is Mandarin Orange Blast.

The lobby of the Poly is one of my favorite scents in all of Disney! It just smells to me like Disney.. like you're finally there. I'll be super bummed out in May if we go and its gone :(

We were there 2 weeks ago and the smell was definitely different, but it was still very polynesian/Disney smelling. It didn't spoil the atmosphere or feeling that we are use to at the poly. So don't worry, you will still have a great time at the poly!!:sohappy:

BTW- We also stayed at the Dolphin Resort last month, and the lobby smelled wonderful. It smelled like Creme Brulee. Very sweet and delicious smelling. I like the idea that Disney tries to use all your senses to create a memory of a place.

I liked the smell of the flowers, but it wasn't the smell that my husband and son expect when they walk into the Poly. I can't wait for my son to go in February and see what information he will be texting or calling us to report.

This is why I love these boards. We all actually care how the resorts smell, and better yet, people know the names of the scents. Fantastic. :sohappy:

I too love the smell of the Poly. It always smelled like a mix of food & waterfalls to me. Does it still have any scent from the restaurants? It's always a resort I visit to eat at, regardless if I stay there, so I will be interested on my next visit to see if I notice.
