I can't say that I feel the same way but i am going to Disneyland for the first time this year! Maybe I will feel the same after I go but right now, I am pretty excited about it!

It's not that I wouldn't want to go to Disneyland.
I'm sure I would enjoy being where Walt himself got it all started.
But they don't have an EPCOT there so I know I would be dissapointed.
EPCOT has always been my favorite park.
So I save my $$$ and head to Florida every year.

i feel the same! i love WDW but have never had the urge to go to DL or disneyland paris (as i live in the UK), to me theres only one disney and thats orlando

I never seem to have the urge to go anywhere but WDW.

I'd probably go to DL if the opportunity arose, but I don't expect it would be a place I'd like to visit more than once. WDW has so much more to offer!

See... I'd love to get out to DL... but I'm from the East Coast... and it'd probably be just as expensive... if not more expensive (since DL doesn't have any value resorts and I'm young) to go out there... and if I'm gonna spend that kinda money... I'd rather spend it to go to WDW...

I went to DL as a kid (before there was a WDW) and I'd really like to go back there someday. There's a lot to be said for visiting where the magic first began. Having grown up watching Walt show off his park on various episodes of his show, I was so thrilled to actually be there finally as a kid. Maybe it's a generational thing....

We went last year. I enjoyed aspects of DL/DCA, but overall I was disappointed. This is a generalization, but I found DL to be a cramped version of MK. There are differences, but that was my impression.

We had a good week in California, but given the choice, I'll head to WDW.

I used to feel the same way, until I went to DL this last Jan. While not as massive as WDW, DL does have its charm. If you're looking for the most bang for your buck, WDW has way more to do. But if you're looking for a different kind of Disney experience, DL is great.

I was lucky enough to go for the frst time during the 50th celebration. Its got such a great sense of history to it. This was the park Walt actually walked in. It really has a "classic" feel to it. You also get a different view of all your favorite rides. HM, POTC, and SM are all so dfferent, and dare I say, maybe better in DL. Plus they have the Indiana Jones ride which is awesome.

I would choose WDW over DL anyday, but DL is still great, and well worth a visit at least once.

I could imagine that thrill! It was fun just to watch Walt talk about his plans for DL. As a child, I never thought I'd ever actually get to go there!

I lived in Southern CA for a while and everyone there loves DL. Even after visiting WDW, they will still say DL is better. If you've ever been, you know this isn't true. The only things better about DL are PoC and SW. Other than that, it's small and a kind of sad.

I know it sounds silly, but having seen the clips of the Jungle Cruise on TV (black and white of course), I just couldn't wait to ride that!

Doesn't sound silly at all.
I well remember Walt on Sunday nights standing in front of his drawings and talking all about his plans. It sounded like a dream!
How exciting to see it come true!

Its fun to walk down DL's Main Street and go "I saw a picture of Walt standing right here!", it has a history, its exciting knowing he walked down the Main Street. I do perfer WDW though.

When we went, HM and PoC were pretty new, and I remember just being amazed at them, particularly the ballroom scene in HM. I still get that thrill when we go on the HM at WDW.

I've been to WDW many times, but only this past June did I went to Disneyland for the very first time. You can read all about it in my trip report here:

My mini Grand Tour

We did both Disneyland and then flew to Orlando to finish the rest of the vacation at WDW.

I decided to do it now because of Disneyland's 50th Birthday. I thought if there is a perfect time to go, this would be it. And I was pleasently surprised by how much I liked it. I still much prefer WDW, mainly due to its size, but in the end, I think it was more of which park one falls in love first. I know of many people who like Disneyland a lot better than WDW, due to its size and its "history", being that it was the park that Walt got to see and all. Certainly, for a few of the attractions that are shared between Disneyland and The Magic Kingdom, Disneyland got the better one.

I'm hoping to go back to Disneyland in a couple of years and do the mini-grand tour again.

Zz.

I never had the urge to visit DL either. I'd rather just go to WDW every year for the rest of my life. Theres so much more to do and as some of you have said...there is no epcot in DL. disney world is much more spread out w/ 4 different parks, 2 water parks, 18 resorts, Downtown Disney/ Pleasure Island. That list right there is what makes wdw...and DL does not offer all of that so i would just wana stick with wdw.

I thought that if I ever went to Disneyland I'd be bored/disappointed. Well, I got to go in December 2004, and both me and my sister had a great time! We both would love to go back some day. I still would probably say I prefer WDW, but DL is cool too. :)
