Inspired by the "Tigger touched me" thread I thought it might be fun to discuss or favorite frivolous Disney law suits.

My personal favorite was the guest that claimed the their eardrums ruptured due to the pressure change on the Hydroators.

Not that I know of. I have heard about it a while ago and then it was discussed during an interview on the pod cast done by the guys that own DisneyTrivia.com and MagicalMountain.net.
The person that they interviewed said that on average 1 law suit per day is filed against Disney. Most of which are completely bogus.

Fine would have to be when this lady sued for her son a few years back because he lost his foot on big thunder mountain b/c he tried to exit the car when it was it mist of moving. His shoe lace got stuck under the track and it went from there. But its like well lady if your son was the least bit bright he would have known to stay seated until the doors on the train opened! Im sorry your son lost had to go through that but COME ON!:brick:

There was a woman who sued because a brick fell off Cinderella Castle and hit her on the head. Ridiculous of course, because the castle is fiberglass. Apparently she painted a brick white and snuck it in her purse, then fell to the ground with it next to her! I couldn't find a link though, it might just be a story.

did they even go anywhere?!!!
if they did they were just normal elevators weren't they? That's hilarious!
The floor shook a little but they did not go up or down at all. Every once in a rare while both the front and the rear door were open at the same time so you could see that it was not a real elevator.

I hope that's true! The lengths people will go to!

I've actually been on a hydrolator before with a woman who complained about her ears popping.

I really really really hope that the whole "castle brick" scam happened in real life and isn't just an urban legend -- I'd love to have seen the look on her face when they got her in the court room.

The case where a woman said one of the Three Little Pig characters molested her. But the Three Little Pigs don't have moveable hands!! So it would have been impossible for one to grab her.

[FONT=Trebuchet MS,Bookman Old Style,Arial] In another civil case, in 1976 a woman filed a lawsuit against Disneyland and sought $150,000 in damages for assault and battery, false imprisonment, and humiliation, asserting that a park employee wearing a pig costume had run up to her near the "It's a Small World" attraction, grabbed her, and fondled her while squealing <nobr>"Mommy! Mommy!"</nobr> — an experience that had supposedy left her so upset that she gained <nobr>50 pounds.</nobr> That complaint never saw the inside of a courtroom, as the plaintiff dropped her case after Disney's showed her a photo of the pig costume which revealed that the outfit had no operable arms, only stubs. Not Disney... but my favorite lawsuit ever was the one where the guy tried to sue Michael Jordan 874 million dollars because people kept confusing him for MJ and it was becoming an inconvenience...... riiiight....

Wow. I would have LOVED to see that guest's face when they told them that the hydrolaters don't really move and are pretty much pointless LOL.
Glad they got rid of those things!

How 'bout the story about the people who were shoplifting and got caught by Disney Security and had to go backstage. Supposedly, while backstage they happened to see a character with it's head off and were "traumatized" by it...and sued Disney.

I heard it too, and that Disney kept their mouths shut about there being no bricks in the castle until they got into court, just to teach a lesson. That would be perfect, if true!

wait a sec, i thought that the story involved a family getting robbed at disneyland's parking lot, not a shoplifting case.

About 5 or so years ago I was watching Dateline, I think, and it discussed a young lady that was part of some sort of cult. She claimed that while staying on WDW property she was raped. I believe that she was the one telling her story on dateline and how this cult group she was involved with had her fabricate this story. She almost got away with it and Disney was ready to settle out of court and everything. I can't remember how she was caught.
