Disney Proposal!!

Hello all! Just got back yesterday from spending eight days down in Orlando and visiting the World. On our second day, I proposed to my (now) fiancee after the Beauty and the Beast show at DHS. Beauty and the Beast is her favorite Disney movie. She loves Belle. She loved the show when we saw it last year when she was there for the first time. Four months ago I started planning the proposal. I got in contact with the stage manager of the BATB show. My fiancee is usually very good at figuring things out and ruining surprises. Usually the second she sees something a little off she becomes very inquisitive and dwells on it until she figures out what's going on. Due to this, I had to try and make everything seem like it was spur of the moment or I had no control over it.

I arranged for a Disney Photopass Photographer to be at the show. The plan was to "notice" her there and suggest that maybe we get a picture in front of the stage, and eventually work up to getting a picture actually on the stage. Well, before I could even work my way up to the on the stage part, she came right out and said, "Maybe we can get a picture actually on the stage!" I was so excited that she brought it up. It made it seem like it was her idea, helping me keep her in the dark about what was going on. So I went over to the photographer, introduced myself (she knew who I was obviously because it was all arranged for her to be there since there isn't normally a photographer at this show) and told her that I was just pretending to ask permission to take a picture on the stage. After a few moments I turned back around and went back to my fiancee and told her that it was going to be ok and that we could actually do it, we just had to wait for everyone to clear out so that everyone wouldn't see us and want pictures up there too.

So we waited a bit, and then once everyone left we were escorted up on to the stage and we took a few pics. I then suggested we take some fun poses and she suggested dancing but I had something better in mind. I dropped to my knee and proposed. She was completely surprised. After she said yes, the stage manager gave the cue and the curtain was raised to reveal the entire cast of the show waiting there to congratulate us and take pictures with us. The prince presented her with a Princess Engagement package that I purchased through the Disney Florist. We took a few pictures with them and we were on our way. The entire cast and crew and especially the stage manager went above and beyond for us. We were even given fastpasses for the park to be used on any ride and a special one for Toy Story Mania! She told me afterward that the proposal was perfect and she couldn't have asked for anything better. She also assured me that she had absolutely NO idea that I was planning anything. Thank you Disney for an amazing magical moment that the two of us will never forget.

Thanks, HopLow!! I was really happy to be able to get video and photos. I hope to one day show this all to our kids!

That is awesome! Congrats to you in pulling off a fantastic proposal!! :sohappy: May have you have a fantastic, happy life together.

Thank you so much, CaptainShortty!

Congratulations! What an amazing way to propose - I loved the video :sohappy:

Thanks, PeoplemoverTTA! Glad you loved the video. When I told her I was going to post it on youtube she fought it because she thought that people would tease her about the "OMG"s. I told her it was adorable and an honest reaction and I loved it.

Congratulations!!! My wife screwed all my plans up and it was the worst ever. Her fault, not mine.

Very good planning on your part.

That stinks, BigRedDad. I was so worried that something wasn't going to go according to plan. Luckily for me though all the puzzle pieces fit together perfectly.

Well played, Sir.

Way to make those of us planning a Disney proposal feel like crap. :ROFLOL: :cry:

Haha! Sorry, gooch. I'm sure your fiancee to be is going to love whatever you come up with.

:cry::cry:

How beautiful!!!

:cry::cry:

Now where is MY prince charming??

Aww! I'm a firm believer in the notion that there's someone out there for everyone. Don't worry, Fallen Angel, the universe has a way of making everything work out in the end!

OR those of us who have done a proposal feel less than adequate.

Thanks everyone!!

MegaPowersPT, I was beyond nervous. The show could have been completely different than the other 25 or so times I've seen it and I wouldn't have noticed. All that kept going through my head was what I wanted to say. Good luck with your proposal!! Let us all know how it goes. Also, don't forget to go to guest services and get the Just Engaged buttons. Those were awesome and all the CMs will make you feel like a VIP when they see it.
