Is Mickeys Verry Merry Christmas Party worth it?

I've been reading mixed reviews. I want to make our last night at WDW special and be able to stay out late and go to the MK, but do you guys think it is worth it? Does anyone know how many tickets they sell to this and how busy the MK is during this event? The date I was thinking about is Tues. Dec. 6. I really don't know much about it, so if anyone could give me some info it'd be much appreciated.

We always did the special ticket events on our arrival day as that way we did not have to burn one of the days on a multiple day pass. Yes, the Christmas party is worth it. Halloween and the pirates and princesses not so much.

If you've never been then yes, trying it for the first time is worth it. We went two years ago, and it was fun, the parades were great (especially with the "snow" falling throughout), the cookies and cider were enjoyable, and we even sat and listened to one of the readings. And of course, getting on the rides with no line was a treat.

That being said, we probably won't go back. Our kids are just old enough now that it would;t interest them, and they (like myself and my wife) have a lot of fun seeing the decorations at the parks, and at the resorts. But it was worth it to try MVMCP that one time....

Question then, since I have never done any of the parties (but I am going to MNSSHP at the end of the month). It seems that all of the unique features of the Christmas Party are offered to the public the last couple of weeks of Dec. If you have the opportunity to go then or have been then do you still think the party is worth the 50+ dollars? The Halloween party seems a bit more unique since you can't see that parade or fireworks otherwise. Opinion?

We attended last year on Nov. 10. It was great and we were really glad we went. This year we are doing the Halloween party for the first time. It's not something I would do every year, but we really enjoyed it last year. :xmas:

I went on a weekday in early December in 2009 and it was great. Aside from Main Street the park was pretty empty. We didn't have to wait for anything and no fastpasses were needed. We went on the rides earlier in the night and watched the later parade. We will be there on December 6th as well.

I forgot to ask do they run fastpass during the event? Or is it not even needed?

I've never bothered to check but it depends on what day you go on some days are more crowded than others. We rode Splash mountain 4 times without ever getting off the ride. We really enjoy MVMCP. :xmas:

In early December 2009 I attended a party and was a little biased after attended two years previous the Halloween party. I somehow like the Halloween party better, at both Disneyworld and Disneyland, but that is just me.

But I thoroughly enjoyed myself at the Christmas party. A week before my trip I was walking in snow and 19F but during the Magic Kingdom Christmas party, I was in shorts, a Santa cap and a wool Christmas sweater. And it was 82 and muggy.

Just like the Halloween party, the Christmas party has its treats - from an exclusive Christmas-themed Wishes fireworks show, a night time look at the Disney Christmas Day parade, the castle icicle lights display and the show that kicks off the special evening.

Just like during the not so scary Halloween party, some of the characters dress up during Christmas party nights. The sugar cookies, hot apple cider and hot chocolate are a treat, but when I attended it was 82, muggy and with an onset of fog, which added a real cool effect to the castle icicle lights. The hot chocolate was a little too hot. My mind preferred an ice mocha or iced Americano.

Just like the Halloween party, the Christmas party is a separate ticket event. There is a limited number, but not so that the night is jammed with park guests.

The crowds tend to thin after the fireworks show after the first parade during both holiday parties, but that is my observation. If you time things right around the exclusive night parade, most of the rides are practically walk-ons.

I suggest you go and try it out. Doesn't hurt to try something once.

On a side-note I suggest you watch Mickey's Jammin Jolly Holly (???) Christmas parade at Animal Kingdom. It's a very cool overlay of the regular parade. You can smell chocolate from Minnie's flat and the snow is quite impressive from Donald's float.

Really? Wow. Well we would go on a Tuesday, which is generally the slowest day of the week, so I doubt it would be busy. Plus Touring plans has that day as a 1-10 for crowd level. I think I'm going to do it. Does anyone know if they even run the fastpasses though just in case there's a huge turnout? I also wonder if the resort monorails will be running. Since were staying at the GF I kind of want to know ahead of time. I guess I'll just hold off on buying the tickets for a little while.

There is a thread in the resorts section about the Halloween party and monorail running times.

We should find out soon.
No need to worry now. Worst case - taking the boat from Magic Kingdom to the Grand Floridian, or a bus.

As for fastpasses during special holiday party nights - best to ask a cast member at City Hall.

We would have kept riding but a few couple of families showed up to ride and we had to bail and Space mountain was'nt more than a 20 minute wait.

Not a big fan of Halloween to begin with, so I was not overly impressed. The p&p party was ok, but honestly, to me it was not anything more than the park being open super late, a themed parade and firework show, and characters dressed as either pirates or princesses.

Christmas party I guess was just more of my thing. It's probably nothing more than the Halloween party themed for Christmas. I think if you can work it to where you go on a day that you are not burning a day on a multiple day pass it's a good deal. Lines are shorter, not as crowded, some different theming, etc. Is it something I would do every year if I went to WDW every year, absolutely not.

we have done the party the past 2 years and loved it each time. you'll enjoy it. we usually don't do may of the rides as we just take it all in. the extra characters and the sites are amazing. i'd say its a must do!! we were there after thanksgiving, and it was pretty crowded. overall, it was very enjoyable. have a blast

I think the show is worth it for the first time, as others have said. However, having enjoyed MVMCP back when it really was a "limited admission" experience, as someone who has been before, I probably would not go back. Not that the experience isn't great, it is! I love the snow, cookies, parade, environment. But, the crowds now compared to years ago are insane. Last time we did it, it was hard for us to enjoy as we had in the past as there were long lines on the open attractions (Keep in mind our frame of reference was our previous MVMCP experiences.) Compared to normal lines, they are a bit shorter. I say go. For your last night, it is a great way to end a trip.

Both the Xmas and Halloween parties are neat to do. I have to admit, I probably preferred the Halloween version a little more. There was something about watching your kids get in costume at WDW and go trick-or-treating to Cinderella/Snow White/etc that was cool. And, my son was dressed as Nascar driver, Tony Stewart, and when he was ready to enter a car at the Tomm. Raceway, one of the CMs called the others over and said, "Look guys, it's Tony Stewart" and asked my son for his autograph...really special touch...

But, you asked about the Xmas party. It is a very nice, relaxing experience, with some different shows and cookie stations throughout the park. It is something that I would definitely do once, and then you can decide on future trips whether it is worth doing again. Our last one was CROWDED, but it was on Friday night of Thanksgiving week a few years ago. That is a tough week to use as a comparison (and frankly, I'll never set foot in WDW during Thanksgiving ever again!).

Mvmcp

My family and I all agree that going to MVMCP was one of the highlights of our Christmas trip in '07. It's not cheap ($50 pp I think?), but it's worth doing it at least once in your lifetime. Crowds are not bad either if you go after Thanksgiving and before Xmas week. Those who don't buy tickets for MVMCP and don't get wristsbands get escorted out of the park. Kind of makes you feel VIP. We must've ridden our favorite rides at least 3 times each! Oh, you get hot cocoa, and chocolate chip cookies right before the parade too.

In short, yes, it is worth it! :xmas:

I guess you have to go at least once to see MVMCP to see if you think it is worth it or not. For my friends and I, once was enough.

Last October, I went to MNSSHP, and with that I can also say, once was also enough.

Depends on who you talk to. My husband doesn't do the rides and isn't a big fan, but my daughter and I are. We enjoy doing the rides without fighting the crowds, or waiting in line, most of the time its a straight walk on. We all enjoy the very fesive holiday feeling when we do it.Every one seems to be a little happier and a little more friendly. We thnk it's a good value, but like I said in the beginning depends on who you talk to. We try to do it every year, as part of our trip. Enjoy *ps the hot chocolate is worth it*:xmas:

We preferred MNSSHP over the MVMCP ten times over. The only thing I disliked about the Halloween party was that we went in September so it was still quite warm. The Xmas party was crowded and the cookies and cocoa were ok, but we found the Halloween party to be much more worth the money.
