Anyone interested in an Atlantic City meet?

Hello all. Over in the South Jesey/Philly area meet thread we were discussing the possibility of a meet down in Atlantic City meet. The purpose for this is that people from farther away (NY, PA, CT, etc...) may be more inclined to go to Atlantic City because they can stay overnight and make a weekend of it. Of course all those pesky details like when, where, and who will have to be worked out... I think that if enough people were interested we could potentially get a group rate on hotel rooms as well. I am just curious if anyone else is interested. If anyone else has any suggestions too feel free to post them here.

It doesnt have to be any time really soon, but I thought I would just throw the idea out there and see how many people are interested.

I like going down to Atlantic City for a few days. My boyfriend and I went in October to see Gordon Lightfoot (he's my absolute favourite musician) and stayed at the Showboat. I've also stayed at the Hilton and Tropicana with my parents, and they've stayed at the Taj Mahal without me. Good times in AC. Pickles deli at Bally's is so good. The French Quarter buffet at the Showboat is yummy too. They're redoing Ocean One (now the Pier at Caesar's) and it should be opening soon, with an Apple store. But anyways. I'll take any excuse to go to AC.

Awesome. I love AC too. I am a Bally's girl myself...thats where most of my comp is. Pickles...yum.

I went to Ballys for over 20 years. Met my ex there :lookaroun He taught me how to play blackjack so now when I have a good run, I get accused of being a dealer or card counter :lol:

We go to Borgata now after a series of bad experiences at Ballys. I'm sure things will change there now that Harrahs owns it though. They are supposed to be pretty good, although a host i know there was telling me last week that they are reigning them in as to what they can give out now.

Ballys has seem to have gotten a little tighter now that Harrahs is in charge...I'm not getting nearly as many free nights anymore and their comp card system is for the birds.

I kinda know how to play Blackjack but im not that good yet so I wont play in the casino. You will have to show me the finer points of the game someday...

Thats what my friend said. Unless you are above a certain play level, you cannot get anything from a host and must use the comp kiosks.

I will say this much though...I get a lot more at Borgata than I ever got at Ballys. Borgata card system gives you a slot dollar and a comp dollar. Your slot dollars can be downloaded into machines for play. YOu cant cash them out but you can cash out whatever hits you have (Borgata is coinless...everything is done by ticket. Much cleaner that way!) Your comp dollars are used for food and purchases in the casino. A couple of times when I have been down, they have had a special promotion where you get gifts based on your slot dollar tally. I got a cd player and a Waterford bowl :lol:

All I ever got at Ballys was a lousy tshirt and a Juniors cheesecake :lookaroun

Yea it seems like Ballys only wants to deal with the big players lately. Its ok tho. Ill go somewhere else. Their plan will backfire on them eventually.

So many of them are getting like that now Victoria.

Borgata has a 2 card system...regular red labels and higher level black. My mother is a black card holder. You are supposed to get certain perks from that, including priority reservations at restaurants and concert tickets. Well, my mothers not a "whale" or a very high black card player. She probably just comes in over the line to have a black card. Its nearly impossible for her to get a restaurant reservation before 10:30pm (shes told they have to hold earlier times for high rollers) and it IS impossible for her to get concert tickets. Shes been told she needed a host for that. Last week, a host called and promised her all manner of garbage, including a suite for this past weekend. Well...guess what? NO SUITE!

So its not just Ballys :lol:

Grrr. Looks like I am just going to have to spend all my money that I dont have in Disney now. Somehow I still think I will keep going back to AC though...

I was down there for 3 days. I ran out of money the first nite. I just scampered over to the ATM, swiped my card and POOF! $400!!

What made me laugh was that I fell *IN LOVE* with this amazing pair of Chanel sunglasses. They were $388!! :eek: Of COURSE I didnt buy them! They cost too much!! But at the casino, I didnt even blink :lol:

Lol. Amazing how that happens. (go get the sunglasses on eBay)

You know you're in trouble when the ATM stops "poofing" you money...that is when it is time to skip town. I am not speaking from experience of course...

We (my wife and I) would probably come down, depending on the date. But how about more of an early dinner or something?

Not too keen on Rainforest Cafe. I don't think the food is all that good for the price. How about Hard Rock or some other place that has a variety of food?

How are weekends in June looking for everyone?
