A new Toontown for WDW, Part 2 (open brainstorming)

This thread here picks up from where another leaves off: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=612630. I'm doing a new thread because we've kinda got off on the wrong foot on the old one, mainly because I thought that a Toontown worked best in the Disneyland/Magic Kingdom mold. There were just some things that I felt worked better in some parks than in others, but such feelings apparently stifles creativity. But I digress.

Anyway, I think we should do this thread over again and see if we can do things more differently. How can we possibly do a Toontown in, say, Disney's Hollywood Studios/Disney Hollywood Adventure (as per a "tradition" at DCA)?

My main concerns for doing this are where exactly it can go and, more importantly, what to do there. Another thing is how we can possibly apply here the squash-and-stretch architecture so prevalent at the other parks' Toontowns. And what else? How can we possibly provide a nice meet-n-greet location here for Mickey and the gang? I really want to avoid the simple generic meet-n-greets styles that they love to use at other parks. I really feel that when it comes to meet-n-greets, they really should treat them as by no means slapdash and hastily-thrown-together as they love to do. Even the Town Square Theater was originally not made for Mickey, like how Mickey's Country House was.

I'm also hesitant about doing anything related to Roger Rabbit here, mainly because of legal battles and whatnot.

So what can we do here? And please, no joking or sarcasm at any time.

Oswald doesn't really have a proper house. But I do think a new Toontown could use an Oswald attraction, probably a Trolley Troubles inspired Wild Mouse coaster.

Why are we so obsessed with having Oswald? I don't think a lot of people would even know who Oswald is.

Because Epic Mickey's been a great re-introduction to the character and it's just the start of this whole campaign. Epic Mickey's been selling well, albeit not quite to their expectations, the Oswald plush at Disney Store's been doing pretty well, not to mention he's going to be a walkaround in the near future. An attraction would be a great way to step it up.

But do you think it's wise to just thrust the character onto the public immediately? I wouldn't think that a lot of people would even know who Oswald is. They know Mickey, yes, but they probably don't know Oswald. Maybe one of the stores in Toontown could be called "Oswald's Five and Dime".

And what about Mickey and the gang?

Have we thought about where to have the meet-n-greets for Mickey and friends? Because I know that we can't do suburbs in this version of Toontown.

Merch has been selling really well for Oswald, as has the game.

As for Mickey and friends, there's plenty else you can do in Toontown beyond just the meet and greet houses. Take us on an adventure into Duckburg, a Mickey dark ride through one of his adventures.

Well, in terms of Oswald, how come we have not heard anything on, say, LaughingPlace.com? I think it's probably safest to move more cautiously.

As for the rest of the land, are you saying that we should just completely ignore the meet-n-greets? What do you think we should do about that?

Please, Laughing Place isn't the only source for Disney news. And besides, about half the point of Epic Mickey was to kick Oswald's return into gear. Between the new merch, the Oswald stuff at California Adventure, and the upcoming Oswald meet and greet.

As for the meet and greets, I'm not for eliminating them entirely, I'm saying balance things out more.

I have not seen any merchandise yet on Oswald, at the California Adventure or anywhere else. Of course, when I'm in the parks, I tend to be more preoccupied with rides than with shopping. And LaughingPlace.com was just a website that I tossed out, just an example, of something that is relatively reliable. And just when and where is this Oswald meet-n-greet going to be?

And on the meet-n-greet front, there is no doubt that there will be a lot more to do than just those, definitely. But I just think that we should get that out of the way before we do much else. I've already got an idea in mind. But I would just like to know where we can have the meet-n-greet? Since there is no more of Toontown Fair at the Magic Kingdom and Mickey will now be shoehorned into a facility that I honestly don't think was ever intended for the purpose of a meet-n-greet, and also since everyone keeps insisting that Toontown would work best at DHS/DHA and that they keep joking that the characters now "stay" at any of the hotels on property or at some property that is off-limits to guests, we need to come up with an alternative for this Toontown, mainly because there won't be any houses for the characters.

But here's the thing: I don't want just plain, simple meet-n-greets, where the characters simply stand in front of a wall (Epcot's Character Spots, anyone?). I want something really fancy, something equivalent to Mickey's House or even the Town Square Theater, where Mickey is now being shoehorned into now that Toontown Fair is gone. So what can we do here?

WHY? Because contrary to what Walt said, "..it all started with a mouse." is wrong, IMO. It was all started when Oswald was born of ink and paper. What would it be like now if there wasn't an Oswald? Would Mickey even been born on that train ride from New York? Probably not! So in essense we have Walt's first character to thank for the Disney brand!

P.S.
I think Oswald should be incorporated into ALL Toontown's as the first citizen of Toontown!

Just my thoughts! Thanks for allowing me to express my opinion!

I have wondered why they could not include Mickey and the gang in Circusland. The story could be that Mickey and the gang decided to visit the circus, since it was in town! They could be like movie stars in their own realm. Just as we would probably ask for an autograph of our favorite movie star when we would see them out and about, why couldn't we do the same with Mickey and friends at the circus!? Just another thought!

Well, I've really been trying to restrain myself from answering my own question until someone could come up with something that I thought would be good. But apparently, no one has thought of anything, so I guess I might as well provide a solution for my own problem: a Toon hotel. Everyone here likes to joke about how Mickey and the gang "live" at the resort with Toontown Fair closed: that they are living in one of the hotels on property, just like regular guests (some even remark that Mickey's real home away from home is deliberately out of sight and off-limits to guests). In any case, where meet-n-greets are concerned, the only thing I could think of to equal Toontown Fair or even Town Square Theater (which I still don't think fits Mickey at all) that Mickey is being shoehorned into is a Toon-style hotel at the park. But I have a concern with that. Thematically, it makes sense, but shouldn't a hotel have to be a tall one? Maybe not as tall as the Tower of Terror, but certainly a bit tall. So what do you think of my hotel idea?
