Next stop...1979:

One of my favorite photos - the Speedway with the Skyway in the background. I don't remember there being a Watkins Glen sign you can see it on the right. Check out my sweet Grease t-shirt!

Thanks! I wish mine were more accessable - like in a photo album - instead of slides at the bottom of a closet! It was definitely cool going through them...seeing how much looks almost exactly the same (except for the plaid bellbottoms :lookaroun)

We went every year from when I was 3 to 18 - my grandparents lived in Florida and we would drive down and stop in Disney. I definitely have more from the rest of the '80's - rockin' my Bon Jovi hair and Skidz - my mom is off for winter break next week so hopefully she can dig some out.

Most of the parade floats were just characters sitting on boxes or even just walking around - that Dumbo one was just bizarre!

Those are a lot of cool pictures, I think my favorites were the ones of Big Thunder Mountain being built because it's my favorite ride and the ones with the skyway in them since I was able to do that on my first trip. Thank you so much for sharing these! :]

I'm anxious to see if the facade work for LM starts taking similar shape in the coming months - the wire frame with detailed rock work over it. Too bad there weren't tons of amateur photographers documenting all the ride construction back then!

Wow! Thanks for sharing - awesome pics.

I only went once in my childhood - 1976 and don't know where those pics are. The slides may be a pain but picture quality looks like they were taken yesterday.

Thanks - glad people are enjoying them!

BTW I've heard that exact statement from my dad at least 20 times in the past two weeks...it's hilarious...he's so incredibly proud of himself for the whole "slide" thing that we all complained about growing up.

Now if I could just find the slides from the first few trips after EPCOT (*cough* Center *cough*) opened I'll post them as well.

I went for the first time in the 80's, but I'm a child of the 70's and these pics bring back such good memories. I noticed your Grease shirt before I even read your comment under the pic!

Just think...the pics we take today are tomorrow's nastalgia....
