... giving an interview when you have absolutely nothing at all to say?

That's Michael Colglazier the VP of DAK and fomer strategic planner (that phrase should have any true fans running for their Disney bunkers) with O-Sentinel's Jason Garcia.

He says nothing and dodges every question. He won't even talk about guest responses to the new $129, but soon $189 and VERY soon $229 Wild Africa Trek (the only surviving remnant of Disney's Shangri-La park).

Typical.

And serious shots at Jason for not pouncing on Disco Yeti, MIA Flik and Dinos on the fritz. I am wondering if this puff piece was forced on him after getting heat for his Disco Yeti piece and for asking our new Governor about his stance on casino gambling at the Dream Debut.

Anyway, you can read the waste of 3-4 minutes here:

Well, at least he remembered to wear his nametag and lanyard. Although an undershirt would have been nice too, if not a necktie and jacket.

And another "at least"... At least he got in lots of trendy corporate catchphrases and corporate buzwords while not really saying anything. Let's tally 'em up from these few paragraphs of Mr. Colglazier;

"focused on the guests"
"the culture we need to have in place"
"legendary service"
"fabulous reviews"
"thrill piece"
"deeper, immersive experience"
"we listen to our guests"

The only thing he left out is any mention of "Disney storytelling", and he also failed to use the words "interactive" and "personalized". Next time.

I was thinking of taking a shot at him for the way he looked, but glad someone else opted to bring it up first.

The Disney Look was a huge part of Disney's image in being a classy, premium place for themed family entertainment.

Bluntly, most CMs today (CPers and IPer excepted because they are generally attractive and care about their looks since they haven't given up on life -- yet!) look slovenly at best.

Colglazier would have been sent home if not fired on the spot for his attire in the D-I-C-K Nunis days. He's a 'suit' and he should be wearing one. Instead, he looks like a low level slob that makes $12 an hour and is thrilled he's making that (and, no, he makes many times that).

I saw this when looking at video of the Disney Dream launch and seeing CMs at the exec level dressing like they went to Walmart ... times may be tough, but they aren't that tough. You can get designer clothes at places like Macy's on sale year-round.

And those freaking pin lanyards? Don't get me started ... don't even get me started ...

That is a disgrace. If I gave an interview like that, I would be fired the next day.

And Jason gave the world's worst interview to boot.

It makes me wonder if they had an agreement that he wouldn't push in exchange for future stories.

I found the article to be a joke, I like Garcia, I really do, but talk about a powder puff set of questions, just put a skirt on him Jason if your not going to play hardball.

I agree with the others, his appearance was less than becoming for an individual in his position.

What ever happened to the Garcia who wrote the Yeti article?

Yes...Mr. Colglazier began his illustrious Disney career with the innvention of Innoventions. He was buddies with Eisner and so was placed in position to change Communicore into that ridiculous Sega arcade and corporate museum.

Sorry, I will get you started.

I never understood that with senior management. I never understood the name tag thing too. Well, I understand the concept of name tag, but really does it have to be the big oval plastic one?
Throw on a sport coat, and maybe a brass name tag for execs.

When I was in field ops, my Manager had steel toe wing tips, so he could be on job sites and in compliance with OSHA, but still dressed to meet clients.

I don't like to pick on people for the way they dress, but he is clearly wearing a shirt two sizes too big for him. Heck, the corner of his pocket is almost in his armpit. I am not saying you have to wear $300 shirts, but spring for some $65 ones that fit.

This last bit is just a masterwork of confusion. I don't think even he knows what he said.

"Well, the great thing about Animal Kingdom is, because it's grounded in nature as the underlying kind of intellectual property, there are tons of opportunities that come from having such a wide underlying concept. And so, as you can bet, we're constantly thinking of lots and lots of opportunities there. It wouldn't be surprising that we've got ideas under way there. But when those come out, when they all gel, is a lot based upon the needs of our guests and the needs of the business."

I'm sure HE thought he nailed the interview. Probably tried to celebrate with a nice meal at a classy restaurant that denied him at the door because he didn't meet dress code.

While I agree, it was a pretty lame interview that really didn't tell me anything new, I must take exception to bashing or criticizing his appearance. Sure, it was not exactly C-level executive, but give the guy a break. I'm just guessing here, but it kind of looks like maybe he borrowed a shirt from somebody for the picture. I can't honestly believe that is his shirt. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt that maybe he was doing something earlier that day, and ruined the shirt he had on or was doing some other task and wasn't appropriately dressed for the interview, so they borrowed one and then threw on a lanyard with some pins on it to make him look more Disney-like.

Instead of focusing on how the guy looks in this one image, let us focus on the fact that Animal Kingodm has not had any new attractions in half a decade, and the fact that main elements of the last one they did add does not work.

Things like that matter.

It is standard for non-Costume CMs to wear Pin Lanyards while in the parks.

Also, all CMs have the same style of name tag irrespective of whether they are management or entry-level.

That piece is designed to be mutually beneficial. For the Sentinel it gets Disney and AK management on side for future opportunities and for Disney it gives them a good promo op. That article os obv not designed for the type of reader that is on this forum.

Child Please! :brick::brick::brick:

11 posts about a bad interview and appearance. There's nothing wrong with that.
I do like your half a decade response. It sounds so much longer than 5 years!

To the person that said that the CMs other than CPs look slovenly and don't care about the way they look...u can go take a long walk off a short pier. What a jerk!

Palinesque, you might say.
