Tents!?! Staying or going?

Sorry if this has been covered before! I've been keeping up on the FL news and developments but there's one small issue I wasn't clear on...

Are the current tents staying or are they building new tents for the new land (or sub-land, whatever it is going to be)?

I was under the impression (form various things I read on here) that these tents were rotted and long overdue to be removed! I hear a lot of members mention the tents are staying... do they mean there will be tents again in the new design or the exact same tents staying put?

Just curious...

As far as I know the current tents WILL be going... However there will be new tents in roughly the same locations as some of the existing tents.

I think they may make new ones maybe? and like change the colors. I am just going by the Concept art and I know that's a bad idea but still you'll never know but maybe new ones that will be like more stronger than the ones now. But what do i know it maybe like 'temporary' and temporary in Disney terms is 20 years later until they change it lol but what do i know! i don't work for Disney...yet :lookaroun lmao

Yup...glad Disney paid attention to all those complaints about ToonTown Fair...
...by keeping the one thing everyone hated and getting rid of what wasn't.

Did everyone hate them or did just fanboys hate them?

Not trying to be snarky... but all the families I've ever spoke to who visited TT not one complained about the tents.

I think a lot of us (referring to the die hards that we are) just knew their time had passed (and maybe we were sick of looking at them)!

If the new tents they put there look good I really don't care! What's wrong with tents, anyway?

I don't think tents are as bad as people make them sound, but I hope they stylize them more than the toontown tents were. I think a tent with more exaggerated slopes, peaks, and careful "draping" could make for something very atmospheric and cool. Think of the take on the classic tent shape that the La Nouba building has. As for circus land, the more dreamlike and expressionistic the better, in my opinion. Dumbo (the film) has this quality and I hope that is the tone they go forward with.

I'm not in love with all things circus related but I think they could make this work! And tents with some fresh color will have to look better than what's currently there!

Will they be at least smaller? It is a sightline issue with Ariel, if they keep the current size.

Well it is at the moment but I would assume once the rock work is built and trees are put back then you won't see the tents from that area ... well thats my hope.

I think it is more the die hard fanboys that disliked them. I think its funny how some people seem to generalize alot when it comes to rides/attractions. Just because you may not like something does not mean everyone feels the same or the ride/attraction should be eliminated. That is one of the greatest things about Disney Word is there is something for everyone.

my thing about the tents, is if Walt wanted to make a circus...he would have made a circus.
he made disneyland as a way to escape the real world and explore worlds you couldn't before; like the future, or a magical jungle cruise, back in time to the age of pirates or into a haunted mansion.
last i checked you could go to a circus every other month.

edit: and it's not even going to be a circus ride persay...the tents are just going to be glorified places to spend money on souvenirs or meet and greets.
if it was maybe a dark ride where we got to watch a hilarious circus with disney characters that would be one thing. it wouldn't be so bad if it was maybe for a ride instead of another store.

Actually...he did.

(Of course, it did close almost as soon as it opened, and is generally regarded as a pretty forgettable misstep in Disneyland history.)

But still...the idea clearly had some appeal to him.

If the tents are in roughly the same spot as before is it likely they would retain the structure and just replace the outer tent material to go with the new theme?

What about that big one people will go into while waiting in line for the dumbo ride?
Wasn't counting that one. That would technically make three.

Based on the plans I have, the two largest tents will remain, in what appears to be the same spot, serving their same basic purpose. Possibly just gettin a thorough refurbishment rather than a total replacement.
