[DCA] "Animated Changes" Are Coming to the Animation Lobby

The Animation building at DCA recently underwent a quick refurb to install new carpet and basic maintenance. The attraction lobby has re-opened, but the film loop in the main lobby is undergoing some "changes".

It's rumored they may be adding new films to the animation loop, which hasn't been updated since the attraction opened in 2001. Can't wait to see what they add, this is one of my favorite areas in the park

This probably won't happen, but it would be neat if they did something like that digital board in one of the galleries of the Disney museum in San Francisco, like so:

Obviously, however, the featured clips would not be limited to the postwar period represented here (from 1945 to 1955), but it should give you an idea of what I think would be a neat idea for the lobby area.

Noooo! I hope they don't add a bunch of Pixar. I like the film loop just the way it is. It's got all the classics.

I talked to a CM who said that the new film loop will be added in March. The CM wasn't sure if they are adding new scenes to the loop or changing it entirely.
I love the scenes and music in the loop, so I hope they are just adding to it. The Atlantis music is my favorite and I hope they don't remove it just because the movie isn't popular.

^ Thanks for the update. So it won't be back up until March? That's quite a bit of time just to update the film loop -- makes me wonder what else they might be adding.. According to MouseInfo, it's possible they are updating the tech so that it's easier to update regularly (similar to World of Color.) This would give them the flexibility to change the films as needed, for special events, themed overlays, etc.

Disney Animation is going through some much needed updates. If what we heard a few months ago is correct, part of the upgrades to the system will include allowing them to easily update the loop with different segments.

A video from MiceChat shows the current state of the lobby. According to WestCoaster.net, they will be upgrading all the screens to digital projection. It's nice to see these "smaller", unannounced updates happening at the park in addition to the major expansion already underway.
