What's the Deal with Hollywood Studios?

Seriously...what's going on with this park? Do the imagineers even have it on their radar? It seems so dull and in serious need of some new life. I thought they said they were working on a Monsters Inc. roller coaster - what happened to that? We already spend like 4 days of our trip in the MK alone, and end up there at the end of almost every day. We do not need that park to get any bigger, honestly (although I'm very excited for the expansion). I wish they'd focus more on HS. It would be nice to see that park really come to life.

The last significant attraction added to to Walt Disney World was Toy Story Mania in DHS, the next significant improvement is Star Tours in DHS.

The Monster's Inc Coaster is still on the table, but I actually think the park is going to see a significant boost from Star Tours that won't necessitate the Monster's Inc Coaster.

The park that's really being neglected in terms of attractions is the Animal Kingdom.

The only things that I enjoy at DHS are:
Rock N' Roller Coaster
Tower of Terror
Beauty & the Beast
The Voyage of the Little Mermaid
Toy Story Mania
Fantasmic

I take it you have kids? Ages 11, 7, and 4?

I don't know about anyone else but I'm alright with DHS the way it is for now... I'd much rather see improvement in much needed areas, especially Animal Kingdom. I could go to AK in the morning and leave content by 12. On the other hand I do really hope that the Monster Inc. Rollercoaster will come to fruition and that there just saving it for the release of MI2 in 2012.

One of the few things that DHS had going for it were Block Party Bash and Fantasmic! aka good high quality entertainment options. However now that they've killed BPB and F! is on a limited schedule, DHS has lost one of the few things going for it. They seriously need to go ahead with the Monsters Inc Coaster, retheme HISTK to A Bug's Life, and bingo they now have a newly expanded Pixar Place they can promote.

Toy Story Mania(although I don't care for it) and Star Tours reopeing(hopefully better than ever) the park does not need anything new. I do agree it needs major work, but more in the sense of refurbs and identity as a Movie Studio Theme.

EPCOT and Animal Kingdom are the weak radar ones to me. The last real new experience to EPCOT was the nemo Omnimover. Eo was a small filler that really did not do much months later. Something needs to happen over there.

Animal Kingdom, well clearly we know what major element needs fixing over there and the park needs more attractions in general.

I feel as though Epcot needs a new attraction (I'm thinking e ticket). It's very limited in it's arsenal like AK. It's been almost 6 years since the last one.

Why on earth are you spending 4 days of your trip at MK???? How do you stay interested being there that long? I visit once or twice a year and that's enough for me!

Anywhoo...I completely agree with you about the Studios. I think the Animation courtyard just needs to be demolished, and a path built that connects to Hollywood Boulevard....add a few new attractions along to that. rip out the Backlot Express restaurant and turn it into the Mos Eisley Cantina...with animatronic band and everything! Adios to the Backlot Tour...add a smaller version of Radiator Springs Racers, add the Monsters Inc Coaster, tear out the Narnia walkthrough and add a ride similar to Crush's Coaster and put SOMETHING worthwhile in that horrible 'attraction' known as Sounds Dangerous. There. Studios is in better shape!

I don't think the Monsters Inc Coaster will even be announced until we get closer to the relase of Monsters Inc 2. They may just be waiting for more to go from so they can tie it in with the film, or they may just want to see how popular its going to be. Either case, if its happening, I doubt they're in any rush to get it done soon. I'd say the earliest would be to go with the movie in November of next year, but at this point that's kind of pushing it unless things have secretly been in the works for a while...

ME TOO !!
Star Tours is just DUMB and will NOT boost anything.
Hope they rethink & add Monsters Inc.

Hollywood Studios has quite a few attractions. As to your questioning of why Magic Kingdom is getting the expansion....Competition in the Fantasy genre. Disney's combating against Universal's success with the incredible piece of innovation and craftsmanship that is the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Animal Kingdom and Epcot need to be the priorities next. They were supposed to have so many attractions but they never came to fruition.

I've always liked DHS, but when I last went it felt so dull and stale. It doesn't need just one or two new additions, it needs some serious revitalization.
