Flames and heavy black smoke erupted at Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls, a water ride at Islands of Adventure, about 5:30 p.m., a Universal spokesman said. Two lagoons that make up the island where the ride is were evacuated, park spokesman Tom Schroder said.Toon Lagoon is there.

How do you evacuate a lagoon?

I was in IOA yesterday when the fire started. We were on Dragons Challenge at the time and could smell the smoke (didn't see the smoke at that time, though). We were crossing the Lost Continent -> Jurassic Park bridge and noticed the billowing black smoke from the Ripsaw Falls area (couldn't tell at that time if it was the ride or backstage area). We tried to go thru Jurassic Park, but team members were blocking the path by the River Adventure. We later tried to go to Marvel Superhero Island (from the Port of Entry) and security had that bridge blocked as well. I'm not sure how long Jurassic Park was blocked off, but we were able to get to The Hulk rollercoaster around 6:30 PM. The entire Wizarding World and most of Suess Landing ended up smelling like smoke.

We were told it was an electrical fire at the ride -- but that was a Universal team member (some sort of management -- no details on the guy though). He said they had a similar situation over the summer, but it was put out before it got out of control. Honestly, this guy should have kept his mouth shut -- he didn't seem to be handling the situation properly at all.

Glad to hear no one was hurt!

Agreed. Although we all love extra info, he shouldn't be telling guests that. Some won't ride the ride if they know it's a repeated problem
