Well, sorry if this is a stupid question, but I reasd on another thread that there are areas that only passholders can access. No specifics were mentioned, so.....

Does anyone know anything about this, or what areas there are?

Plus, sorry, but I just realized where I posted this.:brick:

Disney had 2 annual passholder lounges at Disney World but sadly they worth both closed September 30th of 2002.

There was one lounge located inside The Land Pavillion above the Garden Grill. You had to take an elevator to get to it and were greeted by a CM behind a desk. The lounge had a free coke dispenser and overlooked different ride scenes of "Living with the Land". There was many couches and chairs and a seperate play area for kids that had Disney toys. Another nice touch about the lounge is that it was constantly visited by character's from the Garden Grill.

The other lounge was located at Animal Kingdom in the back of Pizzafari. It had sevral FREE arcade games ( whack-a-alien,pinball,etc.) The cast member's who worked at this location would give preferred seating/standing tickets to passholders for the daily Jammin' Jungle Parade and the Festival of the Lion King show.

I believe the reason Disney eventually closed the passholder lounges was due to lack of attendance. My family would visit them constantly and it always seemed that we had the place to ourselves.

The one at the Land had big brown puffy leather/vinyl chairs and couches and pretty much was the best for crashing as it was air conditioned and had free drinks.

You had to push two buttons together on the elevator to get to the third floor.

I forgot about that. It always felt like you were doing something illegal when visiting the lounges because they were never clearly marked. Especially the AK lounge. The door to get in looked like a door to a janitor's closet.

Thats really too bad about those i never got to go into them when i had my AP. Sounds like they were pretty neat. Im really surprised with the abount of AP holders that they weren't used more.

yeah, I used to hit the one in the Land ALL the time. I thought it was cool at the time to go into the elevator and push those two buttons at the same time (anyone remember which ones?) and it go up to a lounge.

I have been a passholder for about 6 years and I for one never heard about the lounges till the closed. There are still 2 lounges available but they are only open to HP and GM employees inside Test Track and Mission in Space.

I remember asking where the lounge was and no one seemed to know where to go (at least in AK). I would have loved to use them. If they had been more clearly marked they probably would have been a hit.

About a year after the Passholder Lounges closed, I sent an email to Guest Communications letting them know how much my family and I enjoyed them. I received a call from a cast member 2 months later thanking me for sending the email and stating that they're currently no plans to bring back the Lounges :( .

Maybe if Disney receives enough emails about the lounges they might reconsider opening them up again.:animwink:

I think the problem with the "lack of use" was due to the lack of information about the lounges. They may have been metioned in the advertising or information about the AP but why didn't they put signs around the lounge to lure AP guests into them. When we had our annual pass, we always ate at the garden grill restaurant yet we never saw signs outside telling us there was a lounge located just above the restaurant. I assure you, we would have taken advantage of it if we had only known. Besides, maybe it would entise more people into buying annual passes.
