Universal Orlando Vice President dead at 54

Nov 29, 2010

According to the Orlando Sentinel, the vice president of Universal Orlando, Jan Stratton, is dead at the age of 54. The article cites the Orange County Sheriff's Office ruling of Stratton's death as a suicide. Stratton oversaw the "community and diversity relations" of Universal Orlando which involved the company's "charitable giving, community events and minority relations." Stratton began her career in Orlando working for Walt Disney World in the 1970's. Shortly after her move to Universal in 1996, she was named the Orlando Business Journal's 'Business Woman of the Year.' Give Kids the World president Pam Landwirth spoke highly of Stratton who served on the organization's board in saying, "Jan cared so deeply and passionately about children. She just drew you in and you knew it was genuine. She genuinely cared."

Greatest sympathies to her family for their loss during this sad time. A person can seem to have the world by the tail, but you never know what they are dealing with inside themselves.
