Yes but what does the walk way next to green eggs and ham have to do with Grinchmas?
An expanded celebration? Standard decorating? Seasonal refurb?

Just because they are working on that area doesn't mean that the Unusual Driving Machines will be starting up any time soon.

Well maybe this tidbit will let you know that this ride is reality... They gutted out the Grinch's Lair already to make room for construction... this year the Grinch will be walking around Whoville and doing picture opportunities like that...

What gets me is that Universal has had so many problems with this ride and yet Disney built something very similar back in 1967 and again in 1975..... and don'ta lot of Universal Creative people come from Disney?

I don't know..... really, I guess it all comes down to safety. They really should have built the safety walkway when the park was being built.

There are flyers backstage at Universal saying that construction is beginning in Suessland for a "skyway vehicle ride" above Suessland (something to that nature) so it looks like they are reopening it.

There are many differences between the "People Movers" and "McBean" even on a technical level.

Who is the dope who green lighted that attraction. I mean it had to have started on paper before it became a reality. Who signed off on the design and construction of this??? Has it ever operated w/ guests whatsoever??OY

Nope, no people have ever been on this ride. Part of the problem however was the company that built the ride went bankrupt and couldn't complete it.

Incorrect. People have ridden the ride and it technically could operate. It was however, extremely unreliable (the vehicles can't make it up the hills in even the slightst rain) and fairly unsafe (nowhere to evac.)

It did not open to the general public, but people have ridden it. It's not like it was some coaster that once built took off the heads of all the dummies, so designers, park folks, etc, have ridden it.

Furthermore, the ride was technically complete. It suffers from a serious design flaw in the evacuation and hill climbing. Shortly AFTER the park opened, several show elements were removed from around the track, particularly above the stores, but it was at one point complete. As designed though, it never really "worked."

What I was told recently from some of my coworkers... so take it with a grain of salt...

...the vehicles will have 2 different propulsion systems, one internal combustion system to provide backup power in case of an evacuation, and another cable/chain driven for primary use. Basically, GE told Universal to get this up and running, or you lose funding for next years new projects.

Can't agree, i saw both the scenery that was later removed and also people riding it around.

Edit to add: And i've seen it valley, and even slip backwards when running the dummy vehicles, in the rain.

So, unless you've got a source... my original info about why it has problems came from someone who worked in ops (not front-line) when the park was opening.

the actraction "could" operate.. however it was never finnished... only dummys have gone on the ride to my knowoledge... and then used a scenary.. they painted the tunnels, but no show scenes were installed, or finnished... (rumor was the ride vehicles were built and sitting in a warehouse off property..)

this "new" version will be safe and have many of the problems solved...
