Construction to begin on Disney's Golden Oak homes

Oct 7, 2010

Construction will begin soon on the new Golden Oak luxury home development at Walt Disney World. Seven home builders have been chosen to make these homes a reality. Three different types of homes will make up the development - a "village" style on quarter-acre lots, and "estate" style and "grand estate" styles will have larger lots.

The "village" style homes will be built by Cahill, Goehring & Morgan Construction Inc., and Issa Homes. The "estate" and "grand estate" homes will be built by Derrick Builders Inc., Jones-Clayton Construction, J. Richard Watson Construction Co. and Ray Coudriet Builder Inc.

Showcase model homes will begin construction immediately and sales will begin by the end of the year.

Initially, three types of detached single-family homes will be offered for sale.
  • Village Homes
Capturing the romantic look of a Mediterranean village, these stylish Tuscan inspired homes will be located adjacent to the private proposed clubhouse on approximately one-quarter acre homesites.
  • Estate Homes
Located on approximately one-half acre homesites, Estate Homes will offer a variety of architectural styles including Tuscan, Spanish Revival, Venetian, Italianate, Dutch Colonial and Island Colonial.
  • Grand Estate Homes
A limited number of Grand Estate Homes will be offered on approximately three-quarter acre homesites. Designs are consistent with Estate Home architectural styles. Grand Estate homes are designed to accommodate the needs of large and extended families

Will this be the end of the "trailer park" on the north side of the property?

Another thought, what does this mean for RCID government? Will the owners of these properties have voting rights like any other community?

Even if I can't afford one, I still plan on touring the area.

Whatever happened to the hotel they were building in the area?

The area was deannexed from Reedy Creek when it was sold. It is technically no longer part of WDW property.

Nothing quite speaks of Disney and Central Florida like a Dutch Colonial-style home....

Dutch Colonial is a fairly popular style in Florida. I see Dutch Colonial houses go across my desk quite frequently especially in higher end communities.
