Hi everybody,

The thread about Debbie got me thinking. I know there are a number of forum members who live in the areas hit by Katrina. I think I can speak for all of us when I say that we have all been concerned about you and have been thinking of you and your loved ones. I thought it might be a good idea to have one thread where these members can check in and let us know they are ok when they have the ability and the opportunity to do so.

How would they let us know if they were hit by the huricane?:veryconfu
I thought basicly everything was knocked out down there. Wouldn't that include internet connections?

I hope eveyone is ok, though I'm sure at the moment anyone that was hit has a lot to worry about and wouldn't be able to let us know for a while.

Most of the people I know who evacuated are getting internet access to notify family and friends.

ok, i was just asking, i really don't know how things are for those who have evacuated

better for some than others. We can only hope and pray for all of them, and donate what we can to help.

Several members have already checked in (some right away, as they were evacuated)... I love this idea, keeping it all in one place. Thanks, Eeyore! :wave:

(ok being a relative term)

I heard on the local news of FEMA going to look for bodies on the MS gulf coast...and they mentioned going into a house where they found a mother, father, and two children...

:(

I realize that a number of members would not be able to post right away. I thought it would be nice to have one thread where people can check in and let everyone know that they are alright when they are able to do so (as I said in my original post). I guess I didn't make it very clear, I didn't necessarily intend for the members in the areas effected by Katrina to post immediately or to even make the posts themselves, just for someone who knows they are ok to let us know.

Disneydreaming (Linda) is from Slidell. I think Tara Mae is from Louisiana. Has anyone heard from either of them? Do we have any other members from the effected areas?

We still haven't heard from Ringo8n24, LongFamily & MKCP1985.

So add Disneydreaming to that list and that's at least 4 people we haven't heard from. I think I've seen Tara Mae post since the hurricane hit. Let's hope we hear from the others in the next couple of weeks!
