Beginning Feb 1st, there will be no Disney call center. All 200+ jobs will be eliminated and the calls will be outsourced to who knows where. Man I have always hated outsourcing, I think it leaves our economy in shambles.

Now Disney CC outsources all calls to India, not sure that this will happen with the catalog.

I just think of the people that have been there 15+ years and feel bad for them!

Where are you getting this information.

Are you speaking of the center in Orlando, located off of Sand Lake? The Tampa location, or the CA location (is that one still open?) ?

How horrible, but unfortunately a fact of life these days. I work in software and see this stuff happening more and more!

I'd really like to see a source of information before I comment on this one.
Ditto. The Union vote was defeated by a big margin so it can't be that, and it would strike me as very odd that TWDC would outsource something like this. Computer support is one thing (I'm lookin' at you, Dell), but planning vacations is another...

I have no idea where you got your information but you are incorrect. CRO is NOT closing (I just finished working an 8 hour shift today). What you are refering to is DisneyDirect or Disney Catalog call center which will close as of 02/01/06. They did handle some overflow calls (ie dining) for CRO. The call center took in less than 10% of sales for Disney Direct. Cast Members at the Catalog have been given the chance to interview for postions that are currently open (CRO is currently hiring) and transfer down from Kansas City.
So Disney is trying to take care of their cast members; while trying to make the best money wise decisons for Disney Direct.

Thanks for clearing that all up! Much appreciation.:)

Wew, I am so glad to hear that. I hate hearing of people loosing jobs just for employers to cut costs! Dell did this and it is such a struggle to get anything done!!!

This is crazy talk

I interviewed for a job at CRO last year, there is a 6 week training program that requires you to tour all the parks, all the on property hotels, all the good neighbor hotels as well as training in selling airline tickets. Because of the nature of this job, outsourcing it would be nuts. Besides, Disney likes to control things way too much to outsource reservations. Plus, there is is nothing in the Orlando area news about it and it would be a big deal here. I would mark this as a hoax big time.

Yeah, it would be awful if Disney contracted all that out - I'm pretty sure they already partly do, and I've had the misfortune of talking to some of them - they know NOTHING. If they are indeed CMs, they're bad.

However, the one thing that sent chills through my spine when I read that they'd outsource the calls to INDIA!!!!!!! Dell already does that and it's AWFUL. I'm not saying that I have anything againt Indians - I just HATE trying to have a conversation with someone who doesn't speak perfect english, especially over the phone, and about something as critical as reservations. I had this happen once too, so as soon as I finished the call I called right back and fortunately got an American (or english speaking person) and verified all the info. I feel bad for this, but I just get nervous that something was mis-typed or misunderstood.

I was surprised to read your post, because just this week on my ride into Downtown Disney, I heard radio commercials announcing job openings for full-time reservation specialists. Requirements were a knowledge of computers plus general Disney knowledge. I also saw signs along the way, pointing towards Casting Central.

Hard to believe what you say, when I just heard Disney advertise they were hiring.....
