As many of you already know, I am seriously considering adding Captain Hook's Pirate Ship (similar to the former Disneyland and current Disneyland Paris attraction). However, I'm not sure whether this should go in Adventureland or Fantasyland. Disneyland's pirate ship was in Fantasyland (in front of Storybook Land, where Dumbo is located now), and Disneyland Paris' is in Adventureland near the Adventureland/Fantasyland entranceway path.

Adventureland would fit the adventure/pirate theme of the ship better, as well as providing more room for a larger and more-elaborately themed area for it, not to mention having Peter Pan-themed attractions in two different lands. However, Fantasyland may fit better in terms of the Peter Pan story as well as sharing a land with Peter Pan's Flight. Also keep in mind that Disneyland Paris' Adventureland is in a different area of the park from mine (upper left-hand corner, where Frontierland is usually located), which has Adventureland in the lower left-hand corner like all the other Disney theme parks.

If you could put Adventureland and Fantasyland next to each other then the ship could be a seperater between the lands.

My MK theme park has already been designed (map drawings are in my WDWMagic photo album). All I was doing was adding a couple of attractions to my park. If I moved Adventureland to the top-left next to Fantasyland, I would have to redesign the entire left portion of my park all over again, and that would throw everything out-of-whack! :brick:

I thought of that after I posted...

I think it would look good in either land depending on which has the most free space and what attractions you might be adding in the future.

Pirate Ship

One question and one Idea.
First off, is there still a tom sawyers island type deal at Disneyland Paris?

Idea: Put the pirate ship in Fantasyland because the whole land is made up of walt disney classics. such as snow white and peter pan. keeping it in fantasyland and incorperating it with the peterpans flight will help make the ride seem more magical and heldtogether than with the ship scattered to another portion of the park. THe other reason isd that Walt disney placed the origional pirateship in fantasyland to help hold the themed areas together within themselves. placing the pirateship in another land may take away from the magic because the pirate ship will not be in its respective place.
Just a thought from me.

Tom Sawyer Island does not exist in Paris. instead, Adventureland has adventure Island which mixes The Robinsons' Treehouse with Capt. Hook's Ship and Skull Rock.

Really? Where did you get the information about Walt's reason for putting Hook's Pirate Ship in Fantasyland? Just wondering! :animwink:

Walt's original plan had all the animated characters in Fantasyland only, they don't branch out into any of the other lands.

Oddly enough, Adventureland in WDW's Magic Kingdom has Magic Carpets of Aladdin, in an Agrabah-themed area, and Stitch's Great Escape is in Tomorrowland. Not to mention Mickey's Toontown/Mickey's Toontown Fair, which came about many years after Walt's era! :animwink:

As for Captain Hook's Pirate Ship, it would fit Adventureland far better than Magic Carpets of Aladdin! What do you think?

I vote for Fantasyland. I think the Peter Pan story really overpowers the theming/architectural aspect. Although the theme would definately fit in Adventureland, in my opinion, Peter Pan does not. Also, Fantasyland doesn't really have many huge elaborate things. Take a look at Magic Kingdom. All it has are some Medievil castle buildings and English village buildings with rides. This is a step away from that, and I think it'll spice up Fantasyland a great deal.

The Disney parks of today have already deviated from the original plan that focused on authenticity. Especially the Magic Kingdom, which is hyping itself as the place to find all the disney animated characters.

I agree. The Fantasy-landization of the entire Property is getting a bit out of proportion. As for Hook's Ship, I think it would actually make an outstanding feature in FRONT of Peter Pan's Flight. Have the queue wind in front of the interactive area and then come down into the forest to board the ships. I think having mini-lands for several of the rides could be a great concept.

There's something else I thought about. At Disneyland and WDW's Magic Kingdom (not sure about Tokyo Disneyland or Disneyland Paris), Peter Pan, Hook, and the gang regularly do greets in Adventureland, usually near Pirates of the Carribean; in addition to doing greets in Fantasyland (I think) and Mickey's Toontown/Toontown Fair, not to mention at Town Square and the entrance area with nearly all the characters! Therefore, this adds another reason for placing Captain Hook's Pirate Ship in Adventureland, so the Peter Pan characters would have a place of their own to do greets! :)

Just thought you'd like to know! :animwink:

Unfortunately, I don't have enough room for the ship in front of Peter Pan's Flight. I have Mad Tea Party in front of Peter Pan's Flight, and then It's a Small World in front of that! Beside's that, Hook's Pirate Ship is too large to fit in front of Peter Pan's Flight, and would also cause more crowd congestion.

I didn't want to do TOO much re-arranging of my park, or I would have to redesign much, or ever most of it, ESPECIALLY just for adding two rides/attractions! Alice in Wonderland dark ride (similar to Disneyland's) is the other one, which obviously would only fit in Fantasyland! :D

Just thought you'd like to know! :animwink:

As of this post, the vote is now 13-10, Adventureland. With that, another thought has crossed my mind! If any of you have been to both Disneyland and WDW and visited Tarzan's Treehouse at Disneyland and Swiss Family Treehouse at WDW's MK (Disneyland's was Swiss Family Treehouse until a few years ago), you probably remember that Disneyland's treehouse is on the mainland next to the Jungle Cruise rivers, whereas WDW's has theirs on a small island separate from mainland Adventureland, connected by a short bridge. For my park, I could expand on the idea of a separate island, and use it to put both Tarzan's Treehouse (which I selected for my park) and Captain Hook's Pirate Ship; much like Disneyland Paris' Adventure Island on a smaller scale! :animwink:

Nah, put Tarzan's Treehouse on the mainland. It doesn't fit with Skull Rock and the Pirate Ship.

I could have 2 smaller islands, with Tarzan's Treehouse on one and Skull Rock with Hook's Pirate Ship on the other, connected by a suspension bridge like Disneyland Paris' Adventure Isle (Hook's Ship and Skull Rock are on one island and Swiss Family Treehouse on another, connected by a bridge). Tom Sawyer Island at WDW's Magic Kingdom is also actually 2 islands, also connected by a suspension bridge!
