Has anyone seen the "Modern Marvels" program on the History channel? Well, apparently they are filming an episode at WDW, probably about the rides and attractions. My friend said there were at AK filming Everest, Lucky, and Dinosaur. They were doing interviews and behind the scenes technology.

A Modern Marvels show dedicated entirely to Disney World would be AWESOME! I absolutely love the History Channel, because I'm a military buff in addition to Disney World buff (Weird combination, huh?).

This will be GREAT! I'm sure someone will post info as soon as it's air date is known. I have "Disney" set as a wish list on Tivo, so it should catch it.

If they're taping right now it'll be a few months before it's done and on TV.

I'd place my bets near the time when the ride opens. And History Channels sister channel (or mother channel) Discovery runs the show about the real expedition to Everest looking for Yeti (and real fauna). Perhaps the Science channel will have something as well.

I think it is interesting that Disney is persuing this type of advertising for a ride. In the past, this has mostly been done for hollywood top-tier releases. (UFO and life on other planets stuff right now for War of the Worlds. TROY had the story and the historical battle.)

Actually, Discovery doesn't own the History Channel. The History Channel is owned by A&E Television Networks.

Then you would be in heaven with the Walt Disney Treasures DVD box, "Walt Disney On the Front Lines." Amazing stuff from the WWII era: propaganda films (my favorite showing women how to collect and contribute bacon drippings for oil to use on our machinery) and Victory Through Air Power, a feature-length film from Disney credited for convincing the president to develop the air force as a major plan for winning the war....

Sorry for the thread drift. I just had the opportunity to watch much of that On the Front Lines set and it just amazed me, especially with how much sacrifice was involved: a level that I am afraid we today would just shy away from, unfortunately. The box set will affect you, if you watch it...

Anyhow, I also love the "modern marvels" on The History Channel. Should be good.

The Discovery Channel is affiliated with NBC/Universal.

(Isn't it sad when you see how some of these programs and channels are actually affected by their corporate owner? Sometimes it is good, and sometimes it is just biased. I would love to see The Discovery Channel work more with Epcot, but corporate influence will keep that from being likely.)

It is also interesting to point out that Walt Disney Company co-owns the History channel and A&E with Hearst.

The Discovery channel is actually owned by Liberty Media. And your corporate influence idea does not work, as the Discovery channel and the travel channel are owned by the same corporation. And we all know the travel channel has done many Disney based shows.

wow, this is by far one of the neatest shows out there for "guy stuff". one of my favorite episodes is the one on the mega-trucks and diggers. i can hear tim allen doing his man-call right now.

A friend I have at the Studios said that he recorded a segment for the show on Friday morning. I was in attendance at one that was recorded for Test Track last year, and as soon as the tape started rolling I got a coughing spell. I walked away from everything when they started taping, and I was in the corner of the maintenance area hacking out a lung. That always seems to happen to me during those times.

I had forgotten in my trip report that I saw this. They were filming the gravity wheel of Mission Space while I was queued.
