okay.. and this one stretches the boundries a bit..

but Does Disney take tickets right up to the end of the day..

we are flying in mid day.. and we are scheduled to go to AK instead of a park that has a light show at night.. and since I hear that MGM only does its light show two times a week, I was wondering if we could sneak in, so to speak and catch a light show the first night..

we aren't buying parkhoppers due to the extra expense.. otherwise it wouldn't be a big deal..

You won't be able to get into two parks in one day without park hoppers, no. If Fantasmic is important for you to see and it's only showing your first night, why not switch your AK and DHS days so you can start at DHS?

God bless the "Ignore" button.
Wow... sorry people on here can be so rude.
What I would do if I were in your shoes is simply purchase another one-day ticket. They get pretty cheap with each additional day you purchase. For example, if you currently have two four-day passes, to purchase one extra day for two people is only $6! I'm not sure what time they stop admitting people, though, but I'd think that you could get in in time to see Fantasmic!, though you'll have to hurry to get in line. If things are the same as they were last time I was there, that place fills up FAST.

...until you asked if you could sneak into a park. That kind of question can get people's knickers in a twist.

That won't work, either, because the OP said he planned to go to AK after arriving at WDW. The only way to then go to the Studios to see Fantasmic is to have the park hopper option. You can not use 2 admission "days" to go to two different parks in one day. That is the definition of park hopping.

So OP, either skip AK and instead go to the Studios on arrival day, or if you are set on doing both, you must purchase the park hopper option.

You could also head over to the beach outside the Polynesian and watch Wishes without entering the park. I hear the audio is piped over there through speakers.

I just seem to remember..

I am not trying to argue or to be RUDE.. and I am sorry but for my money.. a kingdom is the name it was given..

and since I am in my 50's that's what we have always called it.. You all knew what I was asking about.

I also seem to remember that at least years ago.. they opened the "gates " so to speak and you could just walk into the park with out scanning anything.. but it was like the last hour of the day or so..

and that's all I was asking. meaning that Disney themselves.. opened the gates at the end of the day..

I seem to remember the same with parking.. that after a certain time, they no longer charged or stopped you for parking..

and I am sorry if it was years ago.. but this was like policy.. and not that any one was stealing or taking something for nothing..

and if my words were incorrect.. I am sorry..

I think you're going to be out of luck on that front.

If you want to see a nighttime show on your first night, I think you have 3 options: upgrade to a park hopper, go to a park other than AK on your first night, or enjoy the ambiance of a nighttime show without actually entering a park. (See earlier suggestion about the Poly beach, which I thought was a pretty darn good idea.) :lookaroun

Years and years ago I did hear that they did occasionally open up the turnstiles at Epcot at closing time, and people could go in and catch the ending of IllumiNations for "free", but I never experienced it in-person.

In modern times, the only time I've seen the gates freely open are WELL after closing time, to allow for faster exit of the masses. But by that point all evening entertainment is done, and you might only find one or two stores open.

If you're looking to visit two parks in one day and don't want to pay the ~$50 fee per-person, how about volunteering for the Give A Day, Get a Day program to get a free 1-day ticket. Then use your normal ticket to go into one park, and then the Free Day to enter the other one that same day.

The Wishes music is piped onto the Polynesian beach and it is a great place to catch Wishes. Other good places are the dock areas near Narcoossee's at the Grand Floridian, The California Grill Lounge in the contemporary, the deck on the end of the Contemporary Concourse right where the new Bay Lake Tower connects to the main building, and even just outside the Magic Kingdom gates.
