I do not understand the question. All airlines can use Disney's Magical Express. Perhaps you are refering to the check in service at the resorts?

No, they can't.

Airlines participating in Disney's Magical Express:
• American Airlines
• Continental Airlines
• Delta Air Lines
• Song
• United Airlines
• Ted (from United)
Others may be added later.

None added yet though. Remember, this is a brand new program.

To hopfully clear things up for everyone...

There are two new but very different services that Disney will provide to guests starting on May 5, 2005 staying at a Disney Resort.

Disney's Magical Express is a free passenger and luggage transfer between the Orlando International Airport and your Disney Resort Hotel. It can be booked round trip or one way and is available to anyone staying at a Disney owned and operated Resort, who is flying into and or out of Orlando International Airport (regardless of airline) with there flight dates matching their resort stay dates. The transfer of your luggage from the airport directly to your resort room is included.

Disney's Resort Airline Check-In Service allows guest on select airlines to check their baggage and pick up their boarding pass for their departure flight from the lobby of their Disney Resort Hotel. This service is only available to guest flying with American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta (including Song,) and United Airlines (including Ted.)

The services complement each other but are completely separate of each other, as guest can use either service or both services.

Currently there has not be any airlines added to Disney's Resort Airline Check-In Service.

Again, ALL DISNEY RESORT guest can used Disney's Magical Express service regardless of their airline....

Thank you JP! That is exactly right. I will be flying on Air Canada and I have already called in to have my luggage tags sent from Disney for Magical Express.

Here's the best explanation:

In addition, currently the only airlines that have signed up for this program are American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Song, United Airlines and Ted. For travelers flying on these airlines, they can catch the shuttle from Orlando International, as well as take the shuttle back at the end of their trip. This means that those traveling on other carriers such as U.S. Airways and Northwest, as well as value airlines such as jet Blue, Southwest, Air Tran, Midway, and Spirit, as well as international carriers, can only take advantage of the shuttle pick-up service from Orlando International to their respective on-property hotels.

So basically, its one way unless its airlines listed above.

Thrawn, I'm sorry but you are incorrect. If you take a look at the websites you have listed your will see that they agree with JP. For example on http://www.wdwvacations.com/Disney'sMagicalExpress.htm it says:

The inbound portion of the service (into Orlando International Airport ) is available for all Disney resort guests, regardless of the airline they've selected – domestic and international flights.

The outbound portion of Disney's Magical Express (from a Disney Resort to Orlando International Airport ) offers Resort Guests complimentary return transportation from their hotel to Orlando International Airport . For those flying domestically on the following airlines -- American, Delta (including Song), Continental, and United (including Ted), Disney's Magical Express also offers resort airline check-in that allows these Guests to check their luggage and receive their airline boarding passes at their Walt Disney World Resort.

Your about.com URL just led to a list of categories. Perhaps you could quote where it contradicts what the CM told me and what I am doing because I have gone through your links and I don't see it. I'm confused.

Maybe you should take your own advice. You're wrong.

The luggage/shuttle service is available to anyone coming in by air. The airline check-in from your resort is only available to participating airline customers.

the thing that disney is doing with thoses airline is that you won't have to get your luggage at the airport when you fly in on one of thoses airlines. once you check them in at your home airport you will not see your luggage until your at your room. that is what the airlines is all about. anyone can take the shuttle is just you have to get your own luggage and take it to the bus. cause once you get there you can check in your luggage anyway and they will take them to your room when it is ready.

All guest using Disney's Magical Express will be able enjoy the Luggage Service (luggage is claimed by Disney and sent ahead to the guest resort room) regardless of their airline carrier. In most cases the luggage will beat the guest to the room.

It's terrible that there is so much confusion and misinformation out there about DME.

ANY Disney resort guest may take advantage of DME, regardless of what airline they use. Just like DCL, it doesn't matter what airline you fly into MCO on, your specially tagged bags will not appear on the baggage carousel. Instead, they will be transported to your resort, and taken to your room automatically. Guests will board the DME coaches to thier resort.

On the return journey... THIS is where the airlines come into play. If you are flying one of the participating airlines, you will check in for your flight, and checking your bags at your resort. You will then board your motorcoach to the airport, and bags will be taken care of for you.

If you are NOT flying a participating airline, you will take your bags with you onto the motorcoach, and check them at the airport itself. THIS IS THE ONLY DIFFERENCE between participating and non-participating airlines.

Disney Magical Express Fully Explained...

FOR YOUR ARRIVAL:
Before you leave home, you tag all your checked luggage with bag tags provided in your "Disney's Magical Express Welcome Package" that will arrive about 10-15 days prior to your arrival. (you get 2 tags per person, the maximum allowed baggage on domestic flights)

Once you arrive at Orlando International Airport and pass through security you will be greeted by a Disney Cast Member.

The Cast Member will escort you to the Disney Welcome Center at the Airport to register your family and then its on to your motorcoach. (NOTE: you don't go to baggage claim at all regardless of the airline you choose)

The motorcoach will make up to 4 stops (max) at Disney Resort Hotels. During the way, you will be entertained by a video presentation.

Once you arrive at your Disney Resort Hotel you disembark the motorcoach, and check-in at the front desk of your resort and get your resort IDs (Key to the World Cards)

If your accomodations are ready you will be given your room assignment, otherwise feel free to drop off any carry-ons you have with bell service and start having fun in the parks!

When you go to your room your checked baggage and carry-on items will be waiting for you in your room.

Estimated time from Airport to Front Desk? 45 mins or less!!!

Estimated time for your bags to arrive? In most cases the bags will beat you to your room!!

FOR YOUR RETURN HOME:
The day before you check-out you will find a card in your room with your Magical Express departure time. This departure time will be about 2 hours, 45 minutes before your flight time.

*** If you are flying on Delta, Song, Continential, American Airlines, United Airlines, or Ted, bring your baggage to the lobby, and get your boarding pass and check your luggage in the lobby at the Airline Check-In Desk when you check out of your room. If you flying with any other airline simply skip this step.

At the scheduled time, be in the lobby with your baggage and/or carry-ons to board the Motorcoach.

The motorcoach will make up to 3 other stops (max) at Disney Resort Hotels before heading for the airport. On the journey back you will again watch an entertaining video presentation.

Once you arrive at the airport, get your boarding pass and check your luggage (if you need to), then go through security and then on to your flight home, thinking about all the great memories you have made!

Notes:
If you are on an international flight and Orlando is your first port of entry you and your luggage will need to go through customs first. After customs, return your baggage to the airport and Disney will claim your luggage to deliver to your Resort room.

If your flight changes anytime before you disambark, contact the Disney Reservation Center to update your flight information. If your departure flight changes once you arrive, contact the resort front desk to update your flight information.

If you flight is delayed for any reason, Disney is watching your flight status and will reschedule your Motorcoach assignment as to not delay your transfer once you do make it to Orlando.

If your luggage is delayed or lost, Disney will assist you in filing any claims with the airport.

:sohappy: Hope this helps! :sohappy:

So let's suppose I stay at a Disney Resort and only have carry-on luggage and won't utilize their transportation - will they allow me to print a Delta boarding pass at the resort? In the past, I've had to go to a business center to do that (a pain since I don't stay at a resort with one).

Yes.

You will be using Disney's Resort Airline Check-In Service.
