News Space Mountain update - lights out and looking close to being show ready (Sat Nov 7)

Space Mountain appears to be rapidly heading towards a state of guest readiness. Inside the mountain the work lights are off, trains are cycling, and the show lights on the lift are all lit. Some new projections are visible running on the ceiling, alongside the usual star field. One thing that seems very apparaent, is the interior is now considerably darker than before. Riding the TTA, you can't see your hand in front of your face.

Onto the exterior, last minute touches are being added to the signage, and all work on the new planters is complete, and the landscaping is in place. The large black tar-like stain on the building exterior has been removed (facing Bay Lake Tower).

Here are the latest photos of the exterior.

But why can't the EXTERIOR lights on a pole be gone?

So disappointing. At least the new plaza looks halfway decent.

Thanks Steve. It doesn't look half bad. Fingers crossed and holding breath for the interior.

I hope a woodpecker comes and pecks the poles so hard that they fall and we get MNSSHP's lighting!

Does anyone with a construction background know what that tar on the roof was? Some kind of sealant that was either sanded off or painted? Or is it possible a section of the roof had to be removed, either from damage, or as part of the asbestos removal, or something new was attached it it?

Also, has anyone heard when CM's are scheduled to begin work on SM?

Although it may be just a rehab, it sounds like the operation has completely changed, requiring CM's to be re-trained as though it were a brand new attraction (new computer controls, new evacuation procedures, new queue configuration with new load gates that will change boarding set-up)

I know that certain CPs in the MK were just recently taken from their positions across the park, and were trained in Tomorrowland.

I've heard it is suppose to soft open next week, but the question is when...

I've heard the 21st is likely.

Oh, and they are having CMs work in the Mountain. The last time I was on TTA I heard them testing the audio as well as evac procedures, so they are very, very close to nearing completion...
