The Living Seas/Nemo Overlay

I spoke to a very reliable source today who works for the WDW Marketing and Research Development...
I asked him about the Nemo overlay for the Sea Cabs... He told me that they were hoping to re-theme the the cabs (I'm Guessing To Look Like Fish)...
He said this plan would be carried out as long as disney can spare enough money with the coming of its 50th.

Disney DID install Nemo hollograms in the SeaCabs, according to some sources. However, it is WAAAY to expensive to even touch the SeaCabs right now. Leaks, according to Cast Members, is an understatement.

However, WDI DOES want to totally redo the Living Seas later this year and next year. As posted on d-troops.com, "Over at Epcot, reports are coming in that the Universe of Energy and The Living Seas may under go major rehabs by 2007. Although it is more likely we will see alterations at Energy, the blue sky Seas projects seem to adjust the entire storyline of Seabase Alpha with the potential removal of hydrolators. However, over at Energy, a complete overhaul may be in the works."

Of course, Disney actually has to give the budget for this.

Personally, I think there's anough Nemo. Add some to a potential ride, but Living Seas will soon turn into FANTASYLAND if they go any farther.

I think what they've done with Nemo at the Living Seas is wonderful. It finally adds some much needed excitement into the pavilion. It was neat to see kids of all ages so excited over marine animals once again in the pavilion the last time I went in...something the pavilion had lost a long time ago. All 3 new Nemo areas are wonderfully done in my opinion, incorporating the characters but maintaining an educational value that is more engaging than what had been then before. However, I do not think the fictional SeaBase alpha theme should be removed. Right now, the Nemo overlays still work very well with that idea and I see no reason why it would need to be removed. The only other change I'd like to see is the return of the seacabs in some form.

I spoke to a couple CM's a few weeks ago. They said there are no plans to use the sea cabs anytime soon, if at all. Though, I am sure they can't give much information to the average patron asking nosey question, like me.

I would actually like to see the Seacabs become a walk-through exhibit in a certain sense due to how short that ride is. A walkthrough attraction, guests could take up much more time. Or I would also like to see an expansion of the Seacab track to a new building adding more of something to it. It could be an empty warehouse for all I car as long as the ride is made longer.

NO proof of any holograms have been shown or confirmed, i agree that atlantis would be nice, but Disney is targeting this rehab for the younger children

Why not tie in "The Lost City of Atlantas"? I think that might be a better theme for the Sea Cabs.
That would be a fun idea, but that would have worked quite well (well it DID work quite well) over at 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

The reason I'm not really into it is because "Atlantis" is strictly a fictional story (aside from all the research and whatnot) that provides little to the meaning and purpose of the Living Seas. If Epcot were Fantasyland, then by all means - - but Epcot is a bit different than that. Still, the Finding Nemo additions have helped tremendously in entertainment and *factual* education.

I agree, people would recognize and be more interested in a more familiar theme like Nemo plus this is epcot and Nemo is a fish and fish are real unlike Atlantis which is a fiction story.

Same here. I really liked the "scientific" themeing, and although it needed a change, I'm crossing my fingers and hoping this Nemo stuff doesn't become too ridiculous.

EDIT:
Actually, Epcot DOES need some more children's stuff, and this might be just the ticket.

I wouldn't be surprised to see SeaBase Alpha go. I would be quite saddened by it because the whole base is my favorite part of the pavilion, but I see it as a possibility.

My reasoning for this is because of the elimination of Horizons. Horizons was the pavilion that tied Futureworld together, having scenes that previewed both the land and the living seas. With the land being rethemed and Horizons gone, is Seabase Alpha far behind?

Horizons previewed Land, Seas and Space...it has now been replaced with Space, so we now have Land, Seas, and Space...there is no logic in getting rid of Seas?!?

Love the additions to the Seas, which now make it a great place to visit. I don't understand the talk about leaks. If there are leaks you fix them, and if the area where the sea cabs go is leaking, then why isn't the rest of the observation areas leaking as well?

I still wish they'd eliminate the wait to just get in and just let visitors straight into the hydrolators and make the movie theatre into a new place to visit from within Seabase Alpha with a different film every 15 minutes (4 different films).

It would be nice to see something come back to the Living Seas. There needs to be more of an attraction there...they need to give people more than an aquarium.

The last time I was down there, there were no such holograms. And yes, I have been down there recently. Leaks don't seem to be a problem from what I've seen and heard from my sources.

Intriguing, thank you. I will check back with a person to see what the deal is with the hollograms.

that would be really cool. i like that idea, but wow, were would the fishy (errrr nemo and crush) go while they had to drain the tank to make the track tube leave the building? lol

but sparing no expense, i love the idea.

To be honest, I think that would look really tacky and absoutely not what the seacabs were meant for. If they are (and hopefully will) going to bring them back, they don't need to change it at all. Well, maybe some nice calming ocean sounds as you're travelling, but that's all :)

I think they should keep Sea Base Alpha. It makes it a lot more fun and different to feel like you are going on an adventure deep under the sea. I think the next thing to be updated will probably be the film.
