I will not be at D23, but will do my best to keep track of all the news that comes out of it. This thread will be kept for news and discussion. I will update the original post as needed with information about Walt Disney World, The Other Disney Parks, and other important information that comes out of the D23 convention.

I will also link to concept art and other areas directly from this front page in hopes of setting this up as a one stop shop for D23 info.

It just occurred to me, why are they using Figment's image so much during the promotional things for D23?? So far I've seen Mickey (Disney Mascot), Jiminy Cricket (D23 Mascot), Ariel (getting her own ride), Chip & Dale (VERY classic characters, most likely doing meet-n-greets @ the Expo) The Hitchhiking Ghosts (Featured heavily in the last issue of D23, and I think they're doing a presentation on the HM?), and... Figment? Why would the company want to attract attention to HIM knowing the fan reactions to ALL of the previous re-boots? Maybe they're announcing something?

Just wishful thinking, I guess.

Yea and also the penguins from Mary Poppins or Crush. I think he's just put there because he is classic Disney.

That's exactly what I'm hoping for. And if we get it, this is what Disney boards everywhere will look like.

Well, I think it's more about the character appeal. They also have Crush, the penguins from Mary Poppins, Mike Wazowski and Baloo.

Except that Figment's relatively obscure in the grand pantheon of Disney characters. Hitchhikers on the other hand are very recognizable Disney park-wise, plus are representing the multiple Haunted Mansion sessions and the 40th anniversary of the ride.

Having Mike is dangerous, he stands to get booed based on the reaction to to MILF. And Baloo is probably just making a final stop in before hibernation (i.e. Jungle Book is going back in the Disney Vault).

Only the SERIOUS BUSINESS Disney park fans hate MILF, plus Mike's probably there because of the upcoming sequel to Monsters Inc. Baloo's probably there for general appeal, plus he's got an eatery named for him at the Expo.

Monster's Inc Laugh Floor is a decent attraction. It's not a D or an E ticket (and possibly not a C depending on how you evaluate things), but I hate how it gets lumped in with Stitch's Great Escape.

The guest submitted jokes are typically horrible, and often times it seems that guests will simply submit a joke they heard on a previous visit to the ride. As someone that has done standup, I recognize how difficult it can be to generate stand up jokes that are G rated and appeal to kids and adults. Unfortunately, he best candidates for G rated jokes that appeal to adults are puns, and those typically go over the heads of most children.

Now back to D23 - If there's a live feed to any of the events, I will also link that in the first page. I wouldn't be surprised if you have to be a D23 member to access it though.
