This is it. Time to pick a winner.

Voting for the official WDWMagic photo spot has come down to two choices...neither of which is technically a "spot," interestingly enough.

The idea of using any sign with the word "magic" for our official photos was the clear favorite in the last round, but it couldn't muster a majority of support in a six-way vote.

The TTA actually got the fewest votes of any of the six finalists in the preliminary round, but finished second in the finalists round to earn a spot in this runoff. It will need to pick up a lot of support this round to come out on top.

Voting will run through (roughly) 8:30 p.m. Thursday (US East Coast time), at which time we'll have a winner.

And in the unlikely event of a tie...Steve gets to vote twice. :)

Let's do it.

And as before: Mods, if you don't mind, could we do the "unsticky old poll/sticky new poll" dance one more time, por favor?

I don't think it should be a ride b/c it could be broke, down for refurb, etc. The "magic" sign is a great idea and I can't wait to see what our members come up with!

I'm with doing it with a Magic sign. There are a couple places people could do it. TTA is one ride and everyone may not be ableto or may not want to get on it.

Just about 8 hours left in this one, and the outcome looks pretty certain.

Still...if there are a few dozen TTA fans out there waiting to vote, now's the time.

Poor TTA... sure, it's still closed and will be for another couple weeks yet!

I'm hoping "magic" wins b/c I want to take a pick in the official spot on my vacation (Aug. 24 - Sept. 1st)! :lookaroun

So will you be starting up the "Official WDWMagic Spot" thread after the poll is closed?

I need some examples of places where the word "magic" is written as well!

Mickey's PhilharMagic!
The Magic Carpets of Aladdin.
The Magic of Disney Animation

For starters... :D

I'm hoping Steve will start the new thread, to give it that whole official aura.

GenerationX and WDWFigment posted a few ideas in some of the earlier threads (the one soliciting ideas, and then one of the earlier poll threads).

I like the Tomorrowland Transit Authority idea better because the PeopleMover is much more in line with what Walt intended for Disney World, more representative of what WDW is supposed to be. A place where new technologies and concepts are tried to help make the rest of the world better, rather than merely just the often overused marketing buzzword of pixie-dust, fairy tale 'magic'. Just my opinion. It's a great site name, but as a hardcore enthusiast and Cast Member, I feel that Walt Disney World is so much more than just magic. In its best possible context, magic describes the feeling Disney creates in some people at its vacation destinations. That's really just the tip of the iceberg, and just barely scratches the surface of the potential that Walt Disney World is capable of.

Having said that, I love the idea of having an official WDWMagic photo spot that can be taken in multiple locations, so I would propose this: change the word to either 'world' or 'Walt'. 'World' would open up many more possibilities, thusly not excluding significant areas of the property, and could be suggestive of the international aspect of this site's fanbase. 'Walt' could be either the word or his image. It would leave open nearly as many possibilities, be a wonderful tribute to the man who's responsible for all of this, and also help keep him in our collective site consciousness.

I respect what you're trying to say here...Walt Disney World is a wonder in more ways than one. But I do not believe that the use of the word "magic" to describe it takes anything away from that. Everything from the simplest CM nicety to the most advanced technological development works to create that aura of magic that is so uniquely Disney.
Because this site that brings us all together is named for that quality, I think using its name in a tribute of sorts as we record our visits will serve as a fitting tribute to this site, to Walt and to the wonderful, magical world he created.

I agree. "Magic" doesn't have to just mean Tinker Bell and castles, although that's the most literal use. Don't forget that Disneyland and its cousin, the Magic Kingdom, are only partially devoted to the fairy tale brand of magic (Fantasyland). The wonders of nostalgia (Main Street), American history (Frontierland), the natural world (Adventureland) and technology (Tomorrowland) have all been celebrated in those parks since Day One. Each of those could be considered its own brand of magic.

That's it for this poll and this contest, guys. With almost 2/3 of the vote, "Magic" signs is the clear winner.

Thanks to everyone who voted; I believe each poll in this contest got at least 100 votes, or close to it, so obviously people were interested in this.

Also, thanks to Steve and the mods for stickying these threads along the way.

Congratulations to GenerationX for a truly unique idea that earned a lot of support in each round.

And finally, props to NewfieFan for coming up with this idea in the first place (and for letting me grab it and run after the first thread). :lookaroun

I've asked Steve to start a new thread for everyone to post their photos, so hopefully that will be up and running soon.
