Funny, I was just about to post this bit of news.

I have a source who is working on the Carsland project and they were telling me that they are going to break ground at the end of the month.

Now we have a definite date.

Well, let's mourn the loss of the last bit of the monstrous parking lot and hope for the success of Carsland.

Agreed!

This was going up prior to the full closing of the lot

Also I imagine the lot will also be holding a lot of trailers of the various projects.

Editor's Note 7/9: John Lasseter was in Anaheim yesterday for the WDI groundbreaking of Cars Land. After the ceremony and some DCA discussion, he and his wife spent the rest of their time just hanging out in Disneyland and charming the CM's who needed the morale boost. The mega-budget Cars Land project has begun!

That structure in the Darkbeer picture is rumored to be the Red Car Trolley warehouse.

I can't wait to the the construction pictures start to flood in, those are always exciting.

Caesar you might have spoken to soon about pictures flooding in:ROFLOL::wave:

A kind of overall-
On the left is the World of Color staging area
The steal structure is either the Red Car Trolly barn, or a BOH
Construction trailers in the middle
Directly below the trailers is some broken asphalt
and to the right of that are some light poles already taken down

A look at the rumored Red Car Trolly building, IMHO I'm not to sure anymore about it being that it seems awfully huge, also there's so BOH buildings going in to, same for the construction near Monsters is a BOH.

Ah,I meant the major construction pictures. (RSR and such).

The infrastructure stuff is not too exciting.

Ooh, they're breaking asphalt! Ooh, they're digging a hole!! :)

Anyway, I still think that is the Red Car Trolley Building. Looking at it and the other cars around it for comparison, it looks like at least 4-6 trolley cars can fit in it. (Not too sure how many they're going to put on the track at the same time.

You think? I don't think that building is in the right place to feed into the line that loops into the park between Tower of Terror and Hyperion Theater. It seems to far away. It also seems overly large for a small fleet of trolleys.

It is in the right place for a new parade building though. I would imagine that the current parade building next to Screamin' would be removed as part of Cars Land. That would mean they would need a new parade building on the perimeter of the park, and that building is big enough and in the right spot for a parade building.

I saw that note on Miceage too. I think it's so cool how Lasseter and his family hang out at Disneyland all the time! And a Cars Land groundbreaking ceremony on a gorgeous summers day seems like as good as an excuse to go to Disneyland as any.

I didn't see Lasseter on Wednesday, but I have seen him in Disneyland a few times over the past year or two. And he's always goofing around and smiling, and once I saw him joshing around on the dock with the CM guys who drive the rafts over to Tom Sawyer Island, just very naturally and charmingly. He really seems to connect with the CM's as a former Disneyland CM himself, and he apparently goes out of his way to chat with them and appreciate them.

It's a shame no one has ever seen Ed Grier do that. I'm at Disneyland a lot and I've never seen that Ed Grier guy. But I've seen John Lasseter hanging out at Disneyland repeatedly in recent years!

I don't really see any other reasonable place they can put it. The West side of the Tower is going to have a pathway to bugsland, and the East side is where the Hyperion waiting area is. It's gotta be a decent sized building for at least 3 trolleys as well as area for maintenance.

From Honor Hunter at BlueSky:

http://blueskydisney.blogspot.com/2009/07/it-has-begun.html

Even though construction had already started on office facilities and a round house for the Red Cars weeks ago, groundbreaking officially began today of "Cars Land" in the Timon parking lot.

Counting the days till Summer 2012...

Thanks for keeping us up to date on the photo links!

There is so much stuff going on at DCA now, it's amazing! And the other huge part of the project, the Buena Vista Street and new Main Entrance, hasn't even begun yet. The next three years will be truly awesome to see all of this new stuff go up before our eyes!

It's really a project that is totally unprecedented in the history of Disney theme park development. To undertake all of these massive projects and expansion all at one time inside one operating theme park is something Disney has never done before.
