Hi all

So I'm currently reading "The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World" and I am very much enjoying it...so much so that I'm going to finish it earlier than I thought I would!

I'm looking for WDW book suggestions.
I like to learn about the history of WDW, secrets, imagineering, the parks and so on.
Anyone have any suggestions for a book they've read and liked?

Thanks!

I really like the 101 things, but the hidden mickeys just distracts me from actually enjoying rides, I just look for the mickeys

I have been reading "Realityland" which is all about the building of Disney World and pretty interesting. I have also been reading "Spinning Disney's World." I liked the Imagineers Field Guide to the Magic Kingdom too. There are a lot of them out there and it is hard to know which ones to buy. You really enjoyed the one you are reading? I may have to get that one!

If you like the designing art of it..
http://www.amazon.com/Art-Walt-Disn...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1246465352&sr=8-1
Note it's for once actually cheaper in the parks! $30 cheaper!

For the making of Animal Kingdom:
http://www.amazon.com/Making-Disney...=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1246466005&sr=8-3

I know as a fact that the Jason Surrell books are great in the case of certain attractions, like Pirates, HM, and the Disney mountains
Here are the links:
http://www.amazon.com/Pirates-Caribbean-Kindom-Movies-Welcome/dp/B0014JUG9G/ref=pd_sim_b_1
http://www.amazon.com/Haunted-Mansion-Magic-Kingdom-Movies/dp/0786854197/ref=pd_sxp_grid_i_0_1
http://www.amazon.com/Disney-Mountains-Imagineering-Its-Peak/dp/1423101553/ref=pd_sxp_grid_pt_0_0

And I might as well include Walt Disney Imagineering, even though it encompass all the parks. Still a invigorating read.
http://www.amazon.com/WALT-DISNEY-IMAGINEERING-BEHIND-DREAMS/dp/0786883723/ref=pd_sim_b_5

And this...

Not as many WDW books as I thought! I hope that Hyperion would create a book on the history of EPCOT. ;) But seriously, the one book I always wanted to get is THIS:

I have the trivia books, my family loves them, we make it a tresure hunt out of finding those things at the resorts.

One of the best pure-WDW books (IMO) is Since the World Began by Jeff Kurtti. It's fact-loaded, filled with unique pictures and a brilliant read for anyone interested in behind-the-scenes info, particularly the early version of AK. It might be a little difficult to track down (released during the 25th in '96/7) but if you can get it for a decent price, it's well worth it.

Thanks for posting this. I was at the book store yesterday and picked up "The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World" because you suggested it. Not even through Fantasyland and there are already all kinds of things I hadn't a clue about before. This is going to be a great read to get my excited for my trip in Sept. I plan on bringing it along also to try and notice some of the things and show my mom as well.

Looking for some of the other books mentioned here but many are very expensive.

I remember finding that very one in a book store in the lower Orland area that was going out of business.
Bought it for $2, :)eek:), and love every page of it!

A certain EPCOT book I'm a big fan of I have is the WALT DISNEY'S EPCOT Center - Creating the New World of Tomorrow
I also have pictorial souvenir books, a particular favorite is Walt Disney World 20 Magical Years

Ok all, so I looked into the books mentioned and in my travels, I stumbled across "Mousejunkies".
I bought it and I'm loving it so far!
I can totally relate to the authors obsession with WDW.

In no particular order:

Walt Disneys Imagineering Legends, Jeff Kurtti

Designing Disney, John Hench

Since the World Began, Jeff Kurtti

The Disney Mountain's; Imagineering at it's Peak, Jason Surrell

Walt Disney Imagineering, The Imagineers

The Art of Walt Disney, Christopher Finch

The Imagineering Way, The Imagineers

Walt Disney World; The First Decade

Drawn to Life, Volumes 1&2, Walt Stanchfield

Realityland; True-Life Adventures at Walt Disney World, David Koenig
