HAVE THE PREDICTIONS FROM OCTOBER 2004 COME TRUE?
This post was made in October. Do you think it was a premonition?
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Read first post - just under these instructions. Most of the "meat" is in the second half of the first post (which is what we're focusing on here)
2. Then see photographs of the NEW Land: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=54478
3. Questions to be discussed:
a. Where can you see the STORY of the Land being improved? Is there anywhere where the story of the Land is NOT being told?
b. What was the biggest change, and was it for the best? In terms of beauty? In terms of storytelling or uniqueness?
c. Does the color scheme complement the Land?
d. Point out new areas where we see man's interaction with nature highlighted.

We knew that Soarin was going to alter the Land. We found out that the Land would go down January 2nd to bring in this new "clone" from Disney's California Adventure.
Here is the news:
During the rehab, which will extend through Spring Break, The Land may undergo the following changes:
That's where the BIG news comes in. For the first time, we are hearing strong information about the long-held rumor about THE LAND TRAVEL AGENCY. Most of us brushed it off as being too ridiculous.
Well, as ridiculous as it may sound, looks like we're getting it. The details (rumors)?
This is the point where I chime in.
What does the TRAVEL AGENCY have to do with THE LAND?
"Symbiotic relationships mean creative partnerships. The earth is to be seen neither as an ecosystem to be preserved unchanged nor as a quarry to be exploited for selfish and short-range economic reasons, but as a garden to be cultivated for the development of its own potentialities of the human adventure. The goal of this relationship is not the maintenance of the status quo, but the emergence of new phenomena and new values." - René Dubos
This is a statement that stands outside the Land pavilion. The Land was intended to be a celebration between man's interaction with nature and Food Production.
Wait a second... to go back to that quote: The earth is to be seen neither as an ecosystem to be preserved unchanged nor as a quarry to be exploited for selfish and short-range economic reasons, but as a garden to be cultivated. . . - what rings a bell with "selfish and short-range economic reasons" here??
The Soarin ride system certainly adds a good LOOK at the Land, but of what relevance is this? First of all, the film is a direct clone from Disney's California Adventure. Although Disney may install a new film in 2007, what kind of an excuse is it to showcase California terrain and the Golden Gate Bridge and put it into the Land's themeing?
Well it wasn't put into the Land's theming. If the Travel Agency report holds true, which I hope it doesn't, it shows how a direct clone has potentially ruined the originality and true spirit of an original Walt Disney World experience.
Don't get me wrong. Modernizing the Land is a necessity - as I know most people will agree, no matter how cool the Land is now - but of what relevances is a TRAVEL AGENCY theming? It may add to a "story," but certainly not the story of The Land.
You see, by bringing in a DIRECT CLONE and potentially installing one of the most weak themes of all Epcot, Disney has demonstrated that it really doesn't care for the true meaning behind the attractions. So long as the clone is "cheap" (i.e. not investing in what makes the Land pavilion so great at what it is), could Disney just drop it down and change an ORIGINAL attracion to mold it?
Wouldn't it have been better off to mold SOARIN' to the Land (symbiosis-wise) and avoid the weak use of story? The worst part of this potential change rests in the potential result that an INAUTHENTIC story may overshadow the celebration - and warning - of symbiosis.
CLICK HERE - http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=40423 - for my Call to Arms thread. It also discusses the necessity for the PEACEFUL nature of the Land as necessary to Epcot and all Disney theme parks. The Land is essentially the last "peaceful" pavilion without Wonders of Life, yet tends to be so popular at the same time.
Is Disney listening to the Land? What do you think?

THE LAND UPDATE: IS DISNEY "LISTENING TO THE LAND" WE ALL LOVE??

![BIGSTORY1.jpg](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/grixxer/BIGSTORY1.jpg)
During the rehab, which will extend through Spring Break, The Land may undergo the following changes:
- POTENTIAL RAMPS, A NEW ELEVATOR, STAIRCASES, and ESCALATORS will be installed to ease guest flow to the bottom level
- THE SUNSHINE SEASON FOOD FAIR will be "demolished" and replaced by a brand new, smaller restaurant. It may have seating back where the current Food Fair is or perhaps in the center of the pavilion with more "permanent" tables.
- LIVING WITH THE LAND will have its queue changed with potential ride changes. (No, the greenhouses aren’t going anywhere). There may be a new opening scene and brand new Animatronics.
- THE BALLONS AND FOUNTAIN may be going away.
- CALIFORNIA TIME. . . gift shops, fastpass, you name it.
- ENTIRE RETHEMING of the pavilion.
- "MODERNIZATION" of the pavilion with "travel agency" theming.
- SOARIN' will become an "airport" (as confirmed by the most recent Disney press release)
- LIVING WITH THE LAND would be rethemed to a CRUISE LINE. Will this affect the ride? Who knows. Maybe the name.
- POTENTIAL RETHEMING of the future restaurant to suit the pavilion's needs.
- CIRCLE OF LIFE would remain. Thank GOODNESS . . .
This is the point where I chime in.
