Raytheon and Imagineering are developing a new exhibit to go in the former space of Fantastic Plastics Works. At the Sum of All Thrills Guests will use principles of physics and math to design their own roller coaster, jet plane, or bobsled ride for a customized simulator experience. The venue will be themed like a high-tech laboratory, something like where you'd see Q working in a James Bond movie, or Tony Stark in Ironman. Unique elements of the exhibit will be a large multi-touch surface table, and the simulator itself, which will be on a KUKA robotic arm. The emphasis of the venue will be that science, math, and physics can be fun!

I spent some time in Innovention last week for the first time in a few years, and I am forced to admit that I think the current collection of stuff in there is actually pretty -- a huge advancement from the period when it was all video games to try out. Stormstruck, What's Your Problem, and the IBM thing were all enjoyable and really did seem to follow the spirit of Epcot and Innoventions -- the promise of technological advances to improve life.

This Sum of All Thrills exhibit sounds like it'll be another interesting addition.

Is it me, or does this sound like Cyber Space Mountain over at Disney Quest?
While it sounds similar the simulators are quite different.

This is the KUTA 4D simulator. I have no clue if it is what they will be using for this attraction but I would venture to guess that it will be this or something similar.

This is the cyber space mountain simulator. From my understanding they were based off of a F-16 flight simulator.

Concept sounds similar to Cyber Space Mountain over at Disney Quest all right. Nonetheless, should be fun, and should help bring people into Innoventions. I like it; I think the kids will enjoy it! :)

Actually, with this going in, can it be said that Epcot will soon be getting a "roller coaster?" :lookaroun :p

I like the idea of designing my own virtual bobsled ride. All the fun of winter - without the cold!

Although, I know more than a few locals that will be less than excited about more Raytheon in Florida...

Huh, nice nugget there.:dazzle: While they may not be totally to blame, it looks like they didn't do much to prevent what's happening. I gotta say, between (nearly) bankrupt GM, corrupt Siemens, and now polluting Raytheon, Disney can really pick its sponsors. :o

Oh, its not really "new" news, but its been an scandal a couple years in the making.

This article gives a nice overview of what happend. Essentially, there was behind the scenes dealings, bribery, and slush funds by top management in order to secure contracts and permits. Resulted in record breaking fines both in the US and Europe.

WOW! I'm surprised I had not heard of that!...Maybe this is why the descent is taking a year and a half to complete.:lookaroun:lol:

I did Cyber Space Mountain over at Disney Quest and I have to say, that was one exciting attraction/ride. The ability to "make your own coaster" and then simulate riding it was a blast. The simulator technology was astoundingly real feeling and you could make it as intense as you wanted. All in all, I would love to see something like this again.
